Form going into play offs

Had a look through the current form for all the play off teams, really nothing in it, looks like all the teams have done just enough and nothing more. I think we're quite lucky this year that no team came through with a late run. Table shows position in the form table for x number of games.

I think also that all of the play off teams will also be thankful that both Mansfield and Swindon dropped away after Evans dumped the Stags.

This just confirms that its going to be very tight between the four teams. Hope we have been practicing penalties

Further to the recent form tables, form over the second half of a season can be revealing in a number of ways. Firstly, it can give an indication of which teams are likely to carry their form into next season. For example, Exeter and Accrington were both in the bottom 4 of League two last season after 20 games, yet went on great runs over the second half of the season and then carried that into this season. On the other hand, Barnet and Yeovil both did very well over the first 23 games of last season, but fell away badly over the second 23 games; both carried that form into this season.

It can also suggest which teams are likely to do well in the play-offs. Exeter, Lincoln and Coventry are all quite similar, but Notts County fell away badly after taking 44 points from the first half of the season. With an ageing squad, they could well be up against it over two legs against Coventry.

24th place is amusing.

I'm remarkably relaxed at the moment. I fully take on board what DC says about this being a free hit (not that he and the players will be thinking that privately). We cannot expect to have our cake (Checkatrade) and eat it (play off victory) every year. On the back of the last two seasons I will be disappointed should we not win the play offs but not really upset like in some previous years. The club has come so far and had so much success that I will not even class it as failure or a set back if we don't get to L1 this season. Definitely a win win whatever the outcome - either a promotion to L1 or excited about a full on promotion charge in L2 next year.

Having said that, play-offs are really cup ties, not league matches. We are pretty good at cup ties.

A part of me wants the Cowleys to take away our play-offs chokers tag this season, however, I would be more than happy to wait another season to get automatic promotion.

Indeed let's not forget our final home league game two years against Woking attracted barely 2500 Saturday attracted 10,000.
We've come a very long way in a very short time indeed.

Indeed. Rome wasn't built in a day. More like six days if you believe Genesis. Although I always found Peter Gabriel more credible than Phil Collins.

Always take promotion because all though I have every faith in The Cowley's you never know what the following season will bring.

Let's get that play-off chokers monkey off our back and make history with back to back promotions :wahey:
