Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce was asked for an update on Jonathan Kodjia this weekend, and the answer is less than great.

I do wonder if we'd had him firing on all cylinders where we might be at this stage. Where we are now? Closer to Wolves? Who knows!

As you said JF, hope it doesn't mess up his career - does look like he was rushed back too quickly from the original injury, doesn't it SD?

Yes those pictures in the summer of him training in France put him well ahead of schedule for his recovery. Perhaps he pushed himself to hard too soon.

Dodgy things breaks. They may seem to be healed but when put under extreme stress can fail. Hope this time they give it a long period to get properly healed, and he's around for next season.

Yes, it seems that perhaps he was rushed back too soon in hindsight.

Best that he takes his time and gets himself in shape and fit for the pre-season matches in July.

So who do people think is responsible for managing a return from a serious injury? Obvious answer is the medical staff, specialists, surgeons etc but at some point he is back in the clubs domain.

Must be difficult telling somebody who's apparently fit and healthy and raring to go, no you're going to have to spend another two or three months not playing. I'd have imagined that they'd have tested everything they could have tested. But he was back pretty quick.

Kozak had a rough time, but maybe he was injury prone.
