Forest vs Leeds thread

What about Awoniyi now?

He looks to be enjoying his football again
And great it is to see. I honestly thought he was finished at Prem level & had nothing to offer the team but looks like I was wrong. He never has been & never will be the most aesthetically pleasing player but he is using his physicality to great effect & giving opposition defenders something to think about

Just the fact Dyche wants the job and embraces the challenge is a HUGE improvement on where Nuno's head was

I currently believe because I want to believe its a real x factor. Not just dyche but owd woan and stone too. His Burnley team did have plenty of quality but nowhere close to the current forest squad. His Everton squad was poorer too.

All pipe dreams atm but its a very decent start.

He can control it again even if it looks ugly. Last 18 months he was like a pinball machine boost generator or something. Balls just pinged off him in all directions.

I'm glad he's making the most of the opportunities he is getting at the moment. An in form big T coming off the bench for 30 -20 mins is a great to have in reserve.

Hes been asked to be an old fashioned target man

Let others play off and around him

Keep it simple

Shame hes not in Europa squad as hes such a great impact player when hes playing like this

Odd that you can be so definite about that when the commentators made a big point that Dominguez was roaming across the midfield causing overloads and allowing Neco to just bomb forwards.

On the highlights hes on the right a few times. Not just for corners

Sometimes due to the fact he was taking the corners from there but then also involved in moves from that side following the corners

Clearly other players covering for him when he was over there of course

But it would partly explain him being everywhere

Maybe but it was mentioned on more than one occasion that he was roaming across the midfield.

This heatmap shows the players average positions I believe

Suggests both widemen had scope to roam

Edit sorry it doesnt link direct to the heatmap

What it showed was both Dominguez and Ndoye both averaging out in central positions in the pitch

He was and it was very evident watching on TV as part of my bottom tier supporter package that he was playing very central at times and then sometimes taking play across the right. As you say giving license for Williams to bomb forward if opportunity arose.

It may not have appeared a balanced line up but I thought we were effective and I remember us being dangerous down the right. There seems to be a very rigid belief in some that the formation must be balanced but I reality for reasons we would not know the manger will be providing instruction to play and attack in specific areas and ways.

FFS, are you not accepting there's a difference between a fan and a supporter?

In fact, I'm not really bothered what you think, it's not an argument I want to get involved in. All I was doing was telling someone not to feel less part of it because he doesn't go as often as he used to.
You are quite right; an individuals personal circumstances dictate if and when they can attend games.

People who have moved out of the area or cant afford to go are no less dedicated than those lucky enough to attend.

And then you have a whole bunch of people who just cannot get tickets even if they wanted to.

Football is trendy now, and has attracted a load of middle class dilettantes, who constantly bang on about how much they spend going to games or some other worthless bollox like how far they have travelled, and then use it as a stick to beat those who cannot go.

They are fooling no one apart from themselves.

Ndoye goes roaming everywhere at pace when we have the ball

Hard for opposition to know how to mark him

Our 2 centre mids must be getting told to cover the wide men. The whole back 4 move across as well depending where the ball is.

And the 2 wide men themselves ready to cover when the full backs go forward

Its 4-4-2 but lots of fluidity when we have the ball

But they all tuck in and get back in defensive positions very quickly when we dont have the ball

I think what you mean, chap, is Notts Forest is trendy, now.

In some people's eyes the pecking order is:

- away season ticket holders who attend every away game.
- home season ticket holders who attend every home game.
- away fans who attend a proportion of away games.
- home fans who attend a proportion of home games.
- everyone else.

One of my fat aunt's neighbours (and his son) have an away AND home season ticket - they are the best fans known to me.
Me? My round journey every two weeks is about 300 miles, so im clearly the best of us here...so there.

However, the best Forest fan is surely Ebby. Fair play to him and his BO.

Well, I must admit to being confused by the furore surrounding where Dominguez played.

My thoughts during the game was that he was tucking inside, leaving space out wide for Williams and other players to run into - Williams mainly but MGW ran into the space on a few occassions as did Anderson - I thought at the time that it looked like a deliberate ploy to make it difficult for Leeds to defend down the right and to get Sangare pushing into the space vacated by the players who moved out wide.

And it worked to a point.

But, you know how it is when people express such trenchant views; I had to run through the extended highlights this morning to check if I was imagining things - it appears not.

In fact there was one period of play when the commentator made reference to Dominguez and Ndoye constantly making infield runs and changing positions; he needs to get with the programme.
