Forest in Europe: The 2025-26 Europa League Thread

All sorted and guarenteed now, so worth it's own thread.

We will be in pot 2.

The playoffs are 21st and 28th August, give or take.

Stan has suggested what our potential opponents could look like

I don't understand. Probably because I'm thick.

You talk play offs. Stan talks about groups of 6, which corresponds to the pots.

Do we have to play off against someone to get into the stage Stan is talking about?

Yes, unfortunately in the Conference League we have to qualify via a 2 legged playoff. But there are two fewer group games.

Against who though. What Stan is showing is the likely group we would play in and we would be in second seed pot.

How does that show who we would play in a play off to get there? Again I'm probably being thick

Imagine coming out of a 6 week coma and asking how Forest ended up ...."So did we get to the Cup final in the end and seal a CL spot ?".....download (30).jpeg

"Forest have got a two legged qualifier against FC Hoyvik of the Faroe Islands in the European Simod Cup"

Do we know how the play offs are seeded or could we literally play anyone out of every team that has qualified?
They are seeded based on the UEFA coefficients. As a PL team with no recent European record we will have a coeffient of about 23.

I don't know if we'll be seeded, but looking at the projected pots above and the fact that many of the teams entering the playoff will have failed earlier qualifying rounds in the CL or EL, I would guess our coefficient is probably enough to seed us.

The playoff draw is on 4th August

How does 2025/26 Conference League qualifying work?

The stage at which teams enter qualifying is based on their association club coefficient rankings. All ties are played over two legs. All 36 teams will enter the league phase via qualifying, with none being directly placed.

When are the 2025/26 Conference League qualifiers?

Knockout phase play-offs: 19 & 26 February 2026
Round of 16: 12 & 19 March 2026
Quarter-finals: 9 & 16 April 2026
Semi-finals: 30 April & 7 May 2026
Final: 27 May 2026 (Leipzig)

When are the 2025/26 Conference League draws?

First qualifying round: 17 June 2025
Second qualifying round: 18 June 2025
Third qualifying round: 21 July 2025
Play-offs: 4 August 2025
League phase: 29 August 2025
Knockout phase play-offs: TBC
Round of 16, quarter-final, semi-final, and final: 27 February 2026

Where is the Conference League final in 2026?

The 2025/26 Conference League final will be played at the RB Arena in Leipzig. The 47,000-capacity stadium staged five games at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and four at UEFA EURO 2024, including the dramatic 1-1 draw between Croatia and Italy in Group B.

As well as the Conference League trophy, the 2025/26 winners also gain a place in the league phase of the 2026/27 Europa League if they have not qualified via their domestic competition.

So a playoff against a team in these pots? are there any teams who do not go into a playoff?

Yes

24 teams get through the playoff.

Another 12 join the league phase from the Europa League qualifiers- basically, fail to qualify from the EL in a later qualifying round and you get straight through to the Conference League league phase.

No one goes straight into it without playing any kind of qualifiers though, if they makes sense

Ok, so where are these other 36 teams coming from to form the playoffs? L2?
From the three qualifying rounds that we get to skip.

There are two paths- the Champions path and the main path. Champions path are obviously champions, but from minor leagues. These teams will have gone into Champions League qualifying rounds and lost, thus getting a chance here

I should probably google it rather than asking a ton of questions.
