Forest in Europe 24/25

because we dont play till Monday, we could be 6th by the time the game starts :(

really would like to see Newcastle drop a few points. I see Howe has pneumonia and may need to sit out the rest of the season. Don't wish ill on him, but maybe that impacts them a bit?

Opta now has us finishing 5th on 66 pts beind newcastle and City, with Villa 6th on 63 pts

gonna be close
I agree with Opta

We need Newcastle and City to both beat Villa
Then they can drop points

I’m still fascinated by the Man City situation - we know they’re going to get off completely, but how come it’s being delayed and delayed? We got a points deduction at the absolute worst time. They’re just continuing to do what they want. Even a small points deduction would be massively advantageous to us.

I strongly suspect the wait is to ensure they can give them a “no damage” punishment. If they finish 3rd, they’ll get a deduction that takes them to 5th. Giving the appearance of a punishment.
I suspect that there are negotiations behind the scenes around wording. They are going to get let off, but there will be something they accept so the PL doesn't entirely lose face and so the PL isn't liable for their legal costs. That will be the outcome.

So they will be negotiating the wording of the capitulation with the Man City lawyers.

I reckon that the result we all expect will coincide with Liverpool winning the league. That will be a huge distraction; one of the biggest "victims" of Man City's alleged indiscretions will be celebrating with open top bus tours and disinclined to take away from their current achievement by anger about the past. Their fans will be far less indignant about the stitch up outcome while celebrating.

Meanwhile, the other big victim, Man Utd, are so far out of it that no one will listen to their fans. Their griping will just vanish in the wind

PL rule book wording has had a minor alteration for next season. Closes Leicester loophole so promoted teams have all three years taken in to account even if not in PL.

Agree completely they’ll wait to see how many points deduction they can give without it affecting anything so they can give a “token” punishment that they will I graciously accept & the whole thing will then be consigned to history & Man city will just carry on regardless

Great Fred guys!
I'm on a 9 hour coach trip from North Thailand, to Bangkok and just read the the whole thing from start to finish. Makes for fascinating reading and some great insight from some 😁

It feels like a Grand National type finish, where we have led the whole way around, but now we are in the sprint for the line we are so tired! That finish line can't co.w soon enough now 💪💪 COYR

Yes it was a great Fred till we fooked it up. Still hoping here...

Not trying to stir the hornet's nest here but I'm not expecting us to get anything from our next two games. However I do think we will beat Brentford and Leicester at home and quite possibly get draws against Chelsea, Crystal Palace and West Ham. 9 points minimum from the remaining fixtures giving us a minimum points total of 66. More than enough to ensure Europa league football at a minimum and what an outstanding achievement that will be. Europa league competition used to be the UEFA Cup and I don't remember thinking it disappointing when we qualified for that competition under Clough and Clark.
I don't think we'll get anything at Spurs , they will no doubt decide it's time to put on a performance and we've lost 5 of our last 10 so not great form at all.

I was being sarcastic referring to our "terrible run"

I feel others think we are finished though

We are nowhere close to finished but we wouldn't be forest if we weren't made to chew our nails and touch cloth a few times.

Villa, city, Newcastle will all be smelling blood. We need all 3 pts to settle things down. A point isn't terrible.

4 points from the next 2 games, or 8 from the next 4 for me
