For what it's worth, Keir Starmer, ...

Assuming all parties on the ballot?

I’ve been clear that the country is in dire need of some strong medicine. Be that on the economy, net zero, illlegal migration, nhs funding, policing, and just overall common sense. Reform would seem the only ones willing to administer it and are talking the game the Conservatives should have put into practice when in office. However they aren’t in opposition and how they can effectively form a government from scratch on day one I’m not sure. At least Farage recognises this and is taking steps to address it. If satisfied in four years then probably Reform as it would be pointless to vote for more of the same. If the election was announced tomorrow then the only realistic option would be Conservative as I’d have more faith they could turn the economy around, to a degree, if nothing else.

As for Labour, they are literally bereft of talent. If Starner went I wouldn’t necessarily rejoice as there is literally no one competent to replace him.

How about you? Surely these last 15 months haven’t met expectations.
Firstly, ta for the response.

I must admit, I've been disappointed by a number of things, but none that would persuade me to vote for someone else. The only thing which would do that would be if PR was introduced, as though I'd maybe consider voting Lib Dem (if PR was in), it'd really be a waste of a vote under current circumstances.

I have to say, I'm amazed at your (and frankly, anyone's) support of Farage. To me, it's as clear as day that the man is a complete and utter fraud, out for himself, and completely shameless about how he goes about ensuring that things are never his responsibility.

I have to laugh though that anyone voting Reform for "a change" as the current leading two parties are both incompetent must surely be a little rueful of Reform's ongoing recruitment of B (and C) list Tories.

As for a future Starmer replacement, Darren Jones, Pat McFadden and to a lesser extent Shabana Mahmood are all good talkers, and seem competent in previous roles ... but let's hope Starmer turns things around. I do think that bringing formally stipulating how we might have closer ties with Europe would be a big vote winner. If the Tories are going to implode, then with the Brexit voters going to Reform (who would they blame for the failure?), the Remain voters need to go somewhere.

Your criticisms of Farage could easily be the same. of Starmer. His hypocrisy is off the scale.

Reform is now what the Conservatives should have been and there is clear blue water between them and Labour. The intention is to put specialists, not necessarily MPs into crucial posts.

As for your suggested replacements - Jones was on QT and was trying to gaslight the nation with a straight face that the majority of those on the boats were women and children. He’s another lying idiot who doesn’t grasp what the issue is. McFadden doesn’t want the job and has no charisma and Mahmood disliked as Justice Secretary. I’m sorry but they are bereft of talent abd is why they are trying to get Burnham - Starner with a northern accent- back into Parliament. Unless there is someone willing to give up an ultra safe seat I suspect Reform but everything into humiliating him. Given what has gone on I’m amazed you’d vote for more of the same.

The thing about using specialists "sounds" a great idea ... but how did Musk go on with his DOGE project? Surely, the specialists are the civil servants, who are the ones really doing the job, as directed by government policy. Where would the accountability be with appointed experts? Surely such an approach simply puts ALL the power in the hands of the leader ... Farage ! No ta.

I take on board what you say about the 3 I mentioned, but I still rate all of them as competent, and (as far as we know) honest ... for MPs!

Back to Farage and Reform, it's inconceivable to me how anyone can be taken in by him ... likewise Johnson ... likewise Trump.

As for what's gone on, fortunately, I have a decent memory ... the list of Tory failures, embarrassments, cock ups and scandals is longer than both arms.

This fellas in big trouble good speech from The SNP Bloke today in Parliament. Even said. F…ck. off And a posh word for ******. Brilliant.

Wow, just wow.....just watched the Stephen Flynn MP speech in the HoP & his absolutely nailed on assessment of the Starmer / Mandelson debacle. It's most certainly worth a listen & I also have no doubts he'll follow up on his promise to get answers.

Just watched the Skull on Twitter and he tore the both of them to shreds. Despite Starner hoping the recess will dampen the scandal I suspect it’ll be top of the agenda when they return, unless there’s another debacle in the meanwhile.

Despite where one may sit politically, the appointment and subsequent support was a disgrace and baffles belief.

The hypocrisy is never, ever ending.......

Angela Rayner votes against MPs receiving severance pay-offs in dodgy circumstances. Then she fiddles her stamp duty and gets fired. Presumably she doesn’t take the payoff? Wrong. Today she picked up £17,000. No wonder I hate politicians....

Don't agree with it
She should give it to charity (after tax i assume) that would be a smart if cynical move.

On the other side of the argument.
The payment is in the rules (contract of employment?)
Define dodgy circumstances. Was she not cleared by the fiddling regulator.
Did she fiddle or make a mistake. I think she was wilfully negligent.

A rare occasion- but I finally agree with ttk. The decision by West Mids Police/Safety group to ban fans (let’s be honest they will be Jewish) from attending a football match due to threats from other religious groups is nothing short of scandalous. Also good to see unity and condemnation from the leaders of the other political parties in this too.

This precedent cannot be allowed to stand. It is utterly shameful the Police are bowing down to threats. It’s an admission they are incapable of Policing without fear or favour and are no longer in control. This goes beyond politics. The government needs to act today to act in the national interest and get a grip of this issue. The Home Secretary should start wielding the axe today and get heads rolling at West Mids with the senior acpo leadership team replaced by people who have moral courage and a will to uphold fundamental policing principles.

Heard a good joke today...last time the King said Andy Burnham he was telling Andrew to get rid of those feckin photos.
