Footballers as role models

I have stopped listening to Talk Sport first thing in the morning. Alan Brazil seems to be paid good money to act the jolly, look at me I'm a piss artist, ex footballer role. His co-presenters laugh at his constant tales of boozing, but is it really funny? School kids listen to his garbage before they go to school. Is he the sort of role model the game needs?
Piss from the balcony at Cheltenham by some other boozing pro footballers will no doubt be good for more laughs.

Look what happened to Gazza. This is where the booze in huge excess leads.

Pretty disgusting behaviour by those scum footballers and the slappers who were with them.

We have to get past this, what is wrong with the British! We only want to discuss our behavior when footballers exhibit it. Its like a group delusion that allows us to feel better about ourselves. Here are the facts it's NOT THAT Brazil/Carruthers are footballers that is the problem it is the national characteristics that they display. The drunken boorish behavior is who we are. Chris Moyles and his cohorts exhibit and lionize the same drunken antics but have not kicked a ball. We have made football the biblical scapegoat. We are a nation for who vomiting and pissing in the street is normal but are blind to it unless it is some fool frm MK Dons. My Italian GF is utterly amazed at British women and their public displays of drunkenness. I Saw a woman on a hen night shit in the street in Blackpool and people laughed! This is who we are and until we stop hiding behind football or anything else we'll never have a clear eyed examination of what we have become.

Very true spurdon perhaps the publicity that is attracted to the footballers that their behaviour is highlighted. As for Brazil - a total cretin. Would have been fired a long while ago if TS weren't obsessed with the 'lads' culture.

Sadly, it seems an inbred chav-like characteristic.

Fortunately, whilst many make assumptions that tar all with the same brush, the majority aren't like this - but of course they're the one's that will see these types of actions highlighted and the comparisons will be made.

I've worked and travelled all over the World, but many western cultures suffer these excesses and poor personal behaviour standards; it is unquestionably a blight on our public life and a blot on our 'national' character - you can only deal with issues like this by looking at them through the prism of cause and effect - and so at some point we do need to look at the social cause that bring about this type of disgusting behaviour..

It is a sad fact EX about being tarred with same brush, my current Milanese partner and previous Brazilian partner do not get notions of the class system. To this end they just see the British, they think we are a nation of drunks, that like to fight. It is not true but then all refugees are not rapists another bit of received wisdom. Do you recall a poster with Chris Moyles and a bunch of other breakfast DJ's all hung over? It was marketing that sold the idea this behaviour was cool. So why do we care about it when soccer players do it? Think it's that class thing the continentals don't get, we don't like working class folk with money simple as that.
