My lad was playing rugby upto a year or so ago and we went with free tickets...thrice, I think. I wasnt really into it, but thought my lad may find it helpful.
Jesus Christ, we saw some sights. People who dont even watch the game, groups sat around chatting, not really interested. Constantly going out buying food and pints. Must spend a fortune some of them. Women in what I assume were size 8XL replica shirts. Absolutely massive.
The weirdest thing was when a mother and daughter, aged...probably 60s and early 30s, came back with pints of cider and she asked if I wanted a drink of her pint! She was fairly rough looking, not a minger exactly, but probably had 4 kids tucked away in Scholes. But just weird asking me if I wanted a drink of her pint!

Lad packed in playing the rugby and any slight interest I had immediately evaporated. Couldnt care a jot. Its rough as shite and the touchline parents are worse than football parents.
 
I did have one big observation whilst at the rugby games though, and that was about the demographic of their support, compared to ours.

They have a much younger fanbase on the whole than Latics has. Gangs and groups of teenagers, lots of girls as well. Where as Latics support is a lot older in general. The actual 'hardcore' of Latics support is about 6500. And in that number, I would guess that 2 thirds are probably 50 and over.

In the last few years, we have lost a staggering amount of supporters who have passed away. I was stunned last time they put them on the screen showing those we have lost over the previous year. We lost many due to Covid as well. We do have an ageing fan base and I think only success on the pitch will see a change off it.

I have lost family Vat who were absolutely hard core Latics fans. It’s not easy going to games without them but I continue to go and I continue to encourage the next generation of children and grandkids to support Latics. I have been on a fantastic journey with this club I want the next generation to do the same. Up the Latics !

Disgusting. I saw the social media post relating to this and also the bio details of the individual who made the post, clearly showing he was a St Helens fan.

Plenty of posts by St Helens from magic weekend about a kid who had a ball stolen off him by a bloke in a Wakefield shirt but I have yet to see anything posted by the club condemning racial hate, which to me shows what a scummy place and club it is. Thank God I was born a wiganer.
 
I was born a Wiganer, plenty racist remarks and thuggery come from those that squeeze into the cherry and white tents as well.

I note that Frank doesnt condemn the racism aimed at a Wigan lad who was born here, grew up here, went to school here and happens to represent his town of birth in professional sport, instead trying to engage in whataboutery.

Says a lot for the type of bloke he is, which was seen with his description of Germans and Mexicans on the World Cup thread.

This, whatever has allegedly been posted to the Warriors player, doesn't matter whether they're Saints, Warriors, Latics, whoever. The only thing clear is that the individual is an absolute sewer dweller badly in need of some education
