Football should hang it's head in Shame.....

Pride of Lions

I am now official
This isn't anything to do with Villa so I wouldn't put it in the 100% Villa Forum. But's this is so sad.

Jimmy Greaves is in need of £30k to help him walk again after his stroke he suffered in May. Specialists say that if he doesn't have the required treatment, he'll be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

As Greavsie would say...... it's a funny old game......

Yes saw this the other day. Think about how many wealthy footballers there are. Think of the wealth IN football.

Hmmm.

Given his television career, and television has always been well paid in my lifetime, I'm not sure why he can't just pay the money, unless it all went on drink?

Probably wasn't quite the same levels back then to be fair and a few bad investments and choices and people of his generation soon lost their money...

Can't have all gone on drink VOTN: Jimmy Greaves has been sober 37 years. so it isn't through that. Has JF has said the monies weren't the same then. Also he went bankrupt in the 70's after his years of alcoholism so he wouldn't have had the same amount of money left as other players of that day. Even so they weren't paid on the level players are now which meant they hadto carry on working in some shape or capacity after their career ended

I was referring to his TV money, a well paid position.

Apparently Spurs have paid it, so the story is a bit out of date. Perhaps The Mirror could check it's sources more accurately in future? :10: :10: :10: :10:
