Football During Coronavirus Crisis

I see the Southampton v Newcastle game is now off how convenient. I wonder how many they will want called off at the end of the transfer window? I expect the cancellation cost the Saudi,s a fair few quid 😁

Absolute disgrace. I’d be absolutely fuming if that were Villa players. And if Leicester try to get any games called off because of Covid then they should be told where to go by the league.

And then we get told we need to respect the health of professional footballers in their 20’s more 🙄

For me, going to an event like that is professional misconduct. There’s a virus taking game after game down, why aren’t the club and why isn’t the manager asking players to keep social interactions to a minimum?

The disruption to 30k fans from a cancellation for stupid things like this adds up to costing people, the club and the game millions of pounds.

Idiots if you ask me.

very 90's mate I used to get bottles of wine from suppliers back then. They stupidly thought it would swing my decision on who supplied us. We actually had a list of preferred suppliers and they were the only supplier

I worked in spirits for a few years and you could do very, very well from some of the gifts. But yes, a generation before me. Boomers took all the benefit @wittonite 😂

I’ve largely (not completely) moved on from the might kill someone part, there’s vaccines out there, LF tests and we respect social distancing more so looking out for your favourite nan we should all understand. The death rate is about 0.1% by my maths, so you’re either unvaccinated or unlucky.

Its the disruption and enjoyment for the masses it ruins. I lost two hours of my life the other Saturday directly but I lost a day in terms of what I could’ve been doing had I known it was cancelled.

Footballer are idiots, like to see Jordan Henderson giving these two a call and asking them what they were thinking.

I expect their manager will back them up, rather than bollock them and fine them, players seem to do what they want. Because it's not illegal Leicester can only drop the. Just a bit of common sense not to go to something like that when all these games are getting called off but they haven't got a brain between them

My company won’t let us go into the office without getting HR’s permission, not allowed to meet customers or our teams.

I just can’t understand an entertainment business worth hundreds of billions to a global audience in the billions, not forcing the key stars to take sensible steps.

Player power has reached new levels, I don’t believe we would’ve had this in 90’s or even 2000’s.

I saw a tribute to Sir Alex the other day, I don’t think he’d be successful managing today as the player power and autonomy would’ve been a step too far for him to manage. They’d have all cried off to their agents and handed in transfer requests if they were stopped going to the darts.

I might just be plain lucky but I've managed to stay covid free so far by keeping away from people as much as possible but I am an anti-social person anyway.
My biggest risk is the Grandkids as two of them go to school and two to the nursery.
 
This is the thing isn’t it. Absolutely no self awareness of the implications of their actions. Fans paying for tickets, taking time off work, travel, transport etc etc for it to be postponed last minute .

I hope this blows up more than being halfway down the lists of articles in the sport section of the Fail which is where it is now.

Explanations are needed from Rodgers and Leicester for this.
 
Inter Milan's game at Bologna called off due to covid but........................

Rising Covid-19 cases in the Bologna squad meant the local health authority (ASL) placed the team into quarantine for seven to 10 days from Wednesday.
But with Serie A refusing to cancel matches, Inter were forced to turn up and train before the game, as normal.

Officials even inspected the pitch and tested the goal-line technology, despite there being no Bologna players.
