Football During Coronavirus Crisis

I think there is some "fake news" being touted on the site.

Being vaccinated doesn't mean you can't catch or spread the virus. It only means that your symptoms are reduced and your likely outcomes from being infected are much better.

To stop the spread of the virus we should all wear masks in public, wash our hands thoroughly and regularly, sanitize them when washing is not an option and undertake outdoor activities more than indoor activities. The above actions will significantly reduce the spread of the virus - having a vaccine won't.

Well, unless every Premier League/League and non league player and support staff are put into a bio secure bubble, these recent positive infections are likely to rip through every team, this is very sad and disappointing for everyone, but it is possibly unavoidable.

According to Ashley Preece, in his pre match presser, Gerrard has said two of the first team squad have had positive tests with more results due apparently! Expect we’ll have five or six out, Man United will have 2/3 and we’ll have to play whilst their match is postponed. After the penalty shenanigans that’s how it works doesn’t it? The ‘elite’ have superiority over peasants like us!

I can't see that happening, the bad PR would be overwhelming

Maybe, just maybe its time to stop the now mandatory shit show that happens after every game, the managers walk onto the pitch and the backroom staff form a queue waiting for the opposition to come off the pitch. Meanwhile on the pitch all the players, managers and officials go into show of mutual respect by shaking hands or in some cases a man hug. Imagine if Doris in ASDA or TESCO came off the till and went around hugging everyone she worked with when she finished her 90 minute shift...... She would be told to stop doing it because she was increasing the risk of spreading Covid amongst her fellow workers.

Football is no different, during the last lockdown footballers were traveling around the country to party....... Nothing has changed and its not until footballers and managers pull their heads out of their arses and realise they are just normal like the rest of us nothing will change.

I know Villa are working hard on this at the moment and had several meetings yesterday with football authorities and government officials so we will be told in due course.

But for now, I think it is safe to say you need to take proof of your jabs and if you haven't had a jab

a) stay away from the rest of us ! (Not aimed at anyone who medically can't have one)

b) a lateral flow test will be needed, but how you prove that I have no clue at the moment. I went to see Kasabian recently and the proof to get into the 02 in Brum was a total joke. Lateral flow tests were given to people, they were doing them wrong, showing them instantly to the staff and they were allowed in. It takes 20 - 30 mins for the result. One of my mates (who has had the jabs) just walked in, no questions and I showed a QR code for the NHS site thing that wasn't even looked at.

And they will be the first to moan if they are shut down again.

People can’t even stick a mask on in settings where they’re asked to.

They potentially need to look at a break in January. Life isn’t fair, but I don’t believe playing games where a good side could get beaten but a much poorer side because players were forced to isolate as I think it damages the credibility of the final standings.

On the flip side, we wouldn’t want to play a winnable game (such as today) with half a dozen good players out which could be the case by time we play Burnley.

Injuries and illness are part and parcel of football but this is exceptional to me.

There’s no World Cup next summer so there’s enough time at the end of the season to run into June.

I'd think they will only have a break if there's a mass Covid outbreak across multiple PL clubs. No doubt Liverpool will conveniently get one during Jan/Feb when Mo and Mane are off to AFCON.
The issue with delaying the season is the PL having a break from mid November ready for the World Cup. I cant see them wanting this season to run into June with the next one starting the first weekend in August.

A week or so back they were saying on the radio that with the fixture schedule and World cup and international friendlies leading up to the world cup etc the only way that any disruption could be catered for was to cancel the F.A.Cup.

That last part GGS - Imagine people having to work nearly every day of the week with only a few weeks holiday a year? 🤷‍♂️
Yes it's very tongue in cheek but they're payed mighty handsomely for it so what's a few hardships compared to the bigger picture evolving right now?

They don't have normal jobs though and I don't think what salary they earn should make any difference either way. Cutting the Summer break short will likely lead to more injuries and players not being able to reach peak form. I'll be amazed if the FA want that just before the World Cup.
You've then got the TV companies who have plans to screen matches every day over the Xmas / New Year holiday.
I just think its more likely they would ask them to continue behind closed doors rather than stop altogether
