Football Director Resigns After Being Charged By FA For Calling Spurs Yids

For saying on social media- "yes, Chelsea versus the yids cup final".

The FA said the posts were "aggravated" as "they include a reference to ethnic origin and or race and or religion or belief".

Wtf? They've always been called that, they f*cking call themselves that. Ridiculous PC BS and jobsworthyness.

Yeah, daft but as a director you have to be above what fans call themselves or others.

The FA did at one point try to stamp out the use of the term as there are some Jewish groups who still strongly object to the adoption of the term by the Spurs fans.

Much like 'who the f*** are Man utd' I have always thought it was clever turning it around and 'owning' it.

However, I'm not religious or indeed Jewish

(And sorry to put this little warning up, but please no politically incorrect jokes etc, they almost always lead to complaints)

I find it strange when they call themselves Yids. I don't really know any Jewish people and I don't know much about their religion. I've never met anyone who hated them either. From inside my little bubble the whole thing seems overblown but I guess it's not up to me to decide what offends people.

Is anyone on here Jewish? Is the word Yid offensive?

In one news story it's all about freedom of speech and not giving in to censorship, then in the next story it's all about policing what people can say. F*cking weird.

I Googled "Yid" and the first listing was Tottenham Hotspur.

There is also an article from The Telegraph saying the Police won't arrest Spurs fans for using "the Y word" but they may arrest other fans for using it if it's deemed offensive. It talks about how Spurs fans have resisted efforts by the Police to stop them from using the term. It seems that Spurs fans deem it part of their identity which makes one of their directors resigning for using it strange.

I can understand that yid can be used to offend Jewish people just like ****** can be used to offend black people but if they choose to use it themselves then it's not offensive (maybe).

What the dumb b*stards who indulge the over sensitive fail to see is that by over protecting someone you inspire contempt towards them, as if the they in question think they are special and can control what everyone else can do, thus creating much greater hate and stirring up real racism.

The mis use or exaggeration of the word racist or racism, has become such a common thing, that I think it's become self defeating, I think when a lot of people see the word racism now they roll their eyes and assume it's probably just someone's over sensitivity or another throwing of the card that gets thrown when all else fails.

I think the world is getting more racist, certainly this country, and I think the misuse of the word and the manipulation of it ironically has a lot to do with that.

From too much of 1 thing, an opposite is spawned, too much right wing and the left become galvanised and stronger in response, and vise versa, too much left wing builds up the right wing, and I think that's where we are now. Pc culture is creating the very thing it seeks to destroy.

I can't say how it compares to the situation in the UK but it does seem pedantic of the Police to want to stop Spurs fans from using the word Yid.

In Malaysia there are a whole host of government policies designed to help one race to advance over the many other races like houses being 7% cheaper for one race. Seriously.

Looking at events in Ferguson and New York, the word Yid falls fairly low on the racism Richter scale.

Yeah, daft but as a director you have to be above what fans call themselves or others.

I think this is offensive, I thought a club was meant to be about been a family and pulling together, how can that happen when boards think they are higher than the fans, it's elitist thinking and a reason why football is dying on it's feet.

I am going to be honest i didn't understand what Yid meant or was about until recently tbh, i never came across it in my life, as for this director in today's world he should have knew better tbh esepcially when there was that thing where the Spurs fans was getting criticism about singing Yid Army songs, me personally i never understand why anybody takes rascism personally if everybody just ignored what they was called or laffed it would die out imo

I suppose they would sack someone too if they called them a Scot, a Paddy, a Taff etc. Yes I am being sarcastic.

I get why he had to go however the world has gone

That is a pathetic response Crispy B... nothing to do with being elitist, the FA will have warned and done courses and bored for England over these sorts of things.

The term Yid was always used as an offensive term. Simple as that. Now the fans have reclaimed it, that doesn't mean that anyone at Spurs board level use it or endorse it. So nor can anyone else at that sort of level.

If you really think it is a family and pulling together then I'm amazed, football fans are a family, the boards are usually there for their own ends and are paid, whereas we pay. They are quite often not fans of the club, just staff, pure and simple.

Think is Kefkat, some people probably would be. I knew a lad at Uni who would knock you flat our if you called him a paddy or a mick.

Scot is the wrong example though, that is just what they are. But you wouldn't have a director calling them jocks and the like.

People in positions of 'power' or responsibility have to show a bit of refrain and use a bit of nous.

Apparently that is elitist, it's just common bloody sense to me.

I've actually been approached a few times being a director of this network with reference to the use of Yid. I've also consulted with a couple of jewish spurs fans who I know fairly well. As long as the fans are calling themselves that and are claiming it 'back' I have no issue, however I know some of the Jewish groups do. That is their 'mess' or issue to sort.

Easier for us to say, as we've not faced racism or downright hate towards us though I guess.
