Vital Football Hero
60 years ago today Yuri Gagarin was the first human to travel in space. The story is amazing enough but in those far off days of the cold war he could still be a hero around the world and poster boy of comics and childrens' magazines in the West. This from Look And Learn. I remember it clearly and how exciting it all seemed to a nine year old.

Russia wasn't big enough for him and he said he needed space.

On a serious note, it was amazing and incredibly brave given the level of technology at the time.

Stumbled along one of the Starship tests in November. Have been following ever since. Daily updates and live streaming of tests (even them moving the 160 odd foot things from the build site) from NASA Spaceflight and round the clock view from LAB Padre.

What moon landing?
The USA moon landing in 1969.One small step for man.
Back to Yuri .I wondered if the American's tried to get him to defect as there seems evidence that he was killed judging on the wikipedia page anyway. It would have been a massive defection at the time.
