first 11 to play notts county

devonexlondonimp

Vital 1st Team Regular
smith
eardley,shackell,wharton,toffolo

bostwick o connor
anderson andrade
pett
rhead

expect to use 14 players over 90 mins
akinde for rhead, freck for o connor, green for andrade

county weak on defending ball in air and on ground into their 6 yd box.. rhead best header of a ball in the side.....decent crosses will bring goals.
county have decent forwards and will find the net
so many good players to leave out of starting 11, green ,mccartan akinde, frecklington
oconnor to play v his old team
anderson and andrade will have lots to do covering notts wing play.

Would like to see a 3-5-2 simply to counter their wingers and give Eardley and Toffolo more support in the process:

Smith
Wilson Shackell Wharton
Eardley Pett Bostwick Frecklington Toffolo
Andrade
Akinde

Rhead last scored with his head on 30 January - he has played 25 games since then, and has only scored one more goal (at Coventry). That means he has scored two goals in half a season. And when did he last head an assist? I can't tell you when, but he has certainly had lots and lots of crosses to practice with. I am struggling to agree that he will score goals, or that his headers will lead to them.

"That means he has scored two goals in half a season."

The line everyone needs to quote when Rheadophytes argue he's the answer to everything.

Im puzzled Danny picked Freck as captain ahead of Bostwick purely because captains tend to start every game. I see Freck as a strong squad player from the 20 but wouldnt necessarily be in my starting 11 every game at the moment with the performances of Pett and the emergence of Chapman who is going to be immense when he gets his chance in the team.

Rhead last assisted with his head in the play off 2nd leg

Definitely too hard to predict. But down the spine of the team I would definitely have:
Smith
Wharton
Bostwick
McCartan
Akinde

Easy to add Eardley and Toffolo.

But after that...

DC does not play Rhead to expect goals he links the play from outside the box and gives the team focus for attack when we play long.
Last season it was precisely the failure to deliver quality crosses from wide positions which led to a reduced number of goals on the previous season....19
Much of the crossing last season was poor and delivered diagonally from the fullbacks not from the byline.
if you are to exploit County in the air Rhead will cause the damage....best aerial player we have got.

Okay but with the 11 selected by you who will be there to pick up the knock downs or run onto the flicked headers. Your tactic is lump it to the big man with little other considerations

My head hurts. First eleven players to arrive at The Bank get a shirt*.

*Unless that means Rheady in goal.

i have listed an 11 to encourage other peoples views, it could have been any 11 it is an opening gambit to see who people would like to see start on Saturday.....most people have used the thread to criticise the selection, it`s all a matter of opinions and that`s good but most have been unable to select an 11 themselves proving how difficult the process is currently at LCFC with our large squad
Feel free to put up your 11 and if there are differences in selection then it can be commented on accordingly, nobody is going to admonish anyone if their selections don`t match it`s a general discussion forum where all opinions count.

Trolling it up on a Friday night. Rheadball is dead.

You knew exactly what response you would get by putting Rhead in the starting 11. Well, his inclusion didn't work on Tuesday, and it wouldn't work tomorrow.

With sides that are weak in the box in the air i like Rhead, plus i expect County to pack their midfield forcing us to go a bit long.
Their defensive line will probably sit deep and it may be a day for set pieces, corners or freekicks. Can`t see County playing an expansive game given their circumstances ....bottom of table etc.
