Final Day Match Thread: Happy Relegation Day!

We could look on the bright side.

There's the makings of a decent squad in there - only the top four had a better defensive record. We played well away to Norwich and Swansea but got nothing from those games because we missed chances.

That's not just down to strikers. How many clear chances has Krovinovic created for himself, then missed? Yates had a good shot early in today's game, not far off the top corner, and one second half which was just wide. Garner showed them how to do it with a superb strike. He kept going for 90 minutes and it would be great if we could get him back for next season.
Neither Krovinovic nor Garner will be at the club next season.

However, we do need at least one striker who scores regularly. We also need a LB and possibly a RB (Christie would be OK, but could we do better?)

If Ameobi and Lolley come back fit and raring to go, those additions might see us do a lot better. Our slightly boring possession football wouldn't look so bad if it helped us win games.

The fact that we are talking about Ameobi as the saviour speaks volumes.

Hughton seems quite excited by having Grabban in the number 10 role.

It's a shame that leaves us with no decent striker ahead of him.

Can we please ditch the utterly boring 4-2-3-1? It's been years, it's shite, it doesn't help us at all. I don't care what it is we do instead

Need 2 new strikers preferably with pace, that won't be cheap. Need pretty much a whole new midfield and full backs, if Worrall goes we maybe OK at cb if Soh can step in or at worst Figs is OK. Work has to start now if it hasn't already.

Who knows, maybe we should try signing our own decent players?
Maybe we already have one on our books in Brennan Johnson. It would be good to see another academy product make it at first team level and give us entertainment and results before we have to sell him.

We have to look at 352 or some variety on that, almost every club has moved to this and the 4231 is the back up. My biggest worry with CH is he seems to be stubborn plays players woefully out of form, and a formation and tactics that clearly aren't working.

Brennan should not play a single minute for this club unless he is willing to sign a contract.

No interest in developing a player for another club for free

It's not so much him playing people out of form as having not a single player who has ever been in form

No reason why CH can't get any contract hassles sorted out.

It would be a shame to be rushed into selling him when his value might be greatly enhanced by playing a pivotal role for us next season.

The earth isn't flat, but if we look a bit closer we will see that it isnt a perfect circle either

There's some of that but there was times like when Fig was having a nightmare week on week, kept him in but had Soh and even Dawson available to take him out of the firing line. Same with Bong had 2 better options but kept him in for way too long, the tactics also rarely change even when we've barley managed a shot on target for multiple games.

Fair point

We had 16 shots today, 3 on target.

If our finishing is poor, that doesn't suggest the manager's tactics are wrong - just that we can't put the ball in the net to save our lives.

Not many, it's the Championship you need 3 or 4 good chances to score on average. We create very little.

We had 16 shots today, though - 3 on target. We created enough to have won easily, but our finishing wasn't sharp enough.

That affects games. If we'd gone 3-0 up, our ability to keep possession would have helped us see out a win. We should have been at least 3 ahead before their handball goal.

You obviously didn't watch, only a handful were good chances and you can't expect consistently clinical finishing at this level.

Any strikers that good are playing at a much higher level.
