FIFA Probe

Very much doubt it Rising, there's too many of the smaller member states from UEFA that rely heavily on the revenue that they garner from participating in FIFA competitions ( qualifiers included ).

I think Platini is just point scoring.

The only way I can see FIFA being reformed is if the broadcasters stopped paying them such ridiculous fees to show their matches and the only way that will happen is if consumers stop watching.

What is needed in my opinion is a fan boycott of the Russian World Cup both in terms of fans travelling and more importantly fans not tuning in to watch. This may make broadcasters think twice about what they pay for the rights to the Qatar World Cup.

It will kill me but I won't be watching any of the Russia World Cup even if Ireland qualify.

I'm very much "club before country", BD. it wouldn't take much for me not to bother with the damn thing. England are shite anyway and can be embarrassing to watch, like the last time.

Laudable sentiments mate, but unless it was an orchestrated boycott, it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference. I'm hoping the arrests severely impact sponsorship forcing them to change tack. At the moment Blatter just ignores everything that any decent person would have resigned over long ago

I was reading t'other day that sponsorship only makes up 30% of their revenue, that's why I think it's the broadcasters that have to be got, if they go the sponsors will naturally follow anyway.

But Sepp knows nothing about the corruption, haven't you been listening to him? lol
Just needs a bit of time and he'll fix it.
He's an

Absolutely, this is the result I wanted to see, couldn't care less about a load of corrupt no marks getting arrested but with this **** gone there is real hope for reform within FIFA now, no guarantees mind you but at least we have hope.

It was getting closer to him, perhaps someone made him an offer he could not refuse.

Football can only benefit from this as long as all the bad apples are rooted out.

As always with these things, there is a downside. David Gill, having refused to take up his position on FIFA's Exec Committee whilst Splatter was President now says he will be happy to take it.

Resignation has been aseppted then?
Now his 2 IC is being investigated about a cool 10m that has been sent here and there by him or people working for him, on the internet.

Daft. Unlike his boss who doesn't use email or does he own a mobile phone. Classic signs of being aware not to leave traces of your activity but not proof of wrong doing in itself.

Blaster mey be cleverer than I thought. Even his 'exit strategy' seems designed to maintain the illusion of innocence. Don't cancel the election; get yourself through the election door and acquire some legitimacy via a democratic process; then announce that you don't feel you have a complete mandate and you are taking a magnanimous decision to step aside 'for the good of football'. Had he resigned before the election this would have implied at worst guilt or at best responsibility. This way he has side stepped both.

The length of time before he officially departs is laughable though. Six months minimum?
