It's going to be another summer without a break for Fernandinho following the announcement that the City midfielder has been named in the Brazil squad for the Copa America.

Man City midfielder Fernandinho has had his say on Diego Costa, yet more positively, teammate Sergio Aguero with his thoughts in the past 24-hours or so.

I'm astounded that anyone could possibly think that challenge should've warranted a red card. He did lead with his arm but there is no deliberate swing of the arm in Costa's direction. It was careless on Ferna's part and the ref got it spot on with the yellow card.

I agree I have looked at it and ferna defo has his eye on the ball and the only reason there is a question about it would be the swings from Costa on ferna twice before Ferna got his in. Costa as was pointed out also had a swipe at VK4, all missed by Costa and the Ref and the assistants and sky. If that had been super mario, they would have been all over it like a rash.

More yellow than red - but nice to see us being a little bit more assertive on the park - although always within the letter of the law of course.

Costa's reaction caught in the commentator on Sky, hook line and sinker. He went down (again) as if he had received a crippling, life threatening injury only to miraculously recover when his primitive brain switched into revenge mode. He pulled the same stunt when VK caught his ankle immediately after we had scored - again a life threatening, career ending Achilles injury, in agonising pain and probably going to require surgery to reattach the foot which had been almost severed in the attack.......only for him to sit up and pull up his socks calmly once he realised that his assailant had been booked and his acting had produced the desired result.

An utter piece of garbage and a typical bully. Quite happy to dish it out but once on the receiving end he can't take it and uses deception to get his opponents booked and then tries to provoke them into further transgressions.

A cheat.

Unfortunately he doesn't get booked enough himself and it galls me no end to listen to the number of commentators and pundits falling over themselves to say how much they like his "spiky" style of play.

Fernandinho managed the situation superbly and yellow was adequate for the contact.

Fernandinho Rewarded?

And in fairness, in many ways, you have to say why not!

Fernandinho, which given what he cost Man City when he was signed in 2013 you would 'expect' big things from him I'd guess, has been in fine form so far this season so this could be rewarded, if reports of a new deal are correct?

Yes, I know he's 'rewarded' enough by what he's paid but the Brazilian could be rewarded in another way as the Manchester Evening News says Fernandinho could get a contract extension.
