Fenerbahçe SK v Nottingham Forest Match Thread Sponsored by ASSA ABLOY: The revolving door specialists

I thought McAtee was shocking from the the start to when he was substituted; he can count himself fortunate he didnt get subbed before he did.

Cunha was very good and looks like e ready made replacement for Murillo

Thought so too. We've got jesus, cunha and hutchinson who all look like or have already stepped up. Bakwa, macatee may not work, lucca im not even counting. Ndoye jury is out. Hard to make every player work, its not quite as awful as it feels. Obviously could still do better and agree about looking at PL ready. On the other hand, not sure i wud ov been happy with traore on 200k plus a week.

I would take these over Betis every day of the week.

If we cannot beat these we do not deserve to progress, although it gets significantly harder after this one
Same. Just looked at the teams left.

Safe to say the winner will be coming from our side of the draw. Porto leading their league, Stuttgart are 4th and having a good season, Midgetland are second but the top 2 are miles clear of third

Then Villa in all probability but they will play Roma / Bologna in the QF.

I fancy an Arsenal v Bayern CL final looking at those draws also

Compared to the rest of the midfield he would have the last one I’d have hooked at HT

Agree re Macatee, that's 4 managers now gave him a shot.

Cunha was ok, think people getting carried away with him. He's played what, twice?

Ready made replacement for Murillo??

Come on chap, you been lodging in Finbarrs fantasy land hotel?
To be fair, the day you can see what a good player looks like, or how a team structure can function to allow players to thrive will be a first for you.

But hey, you love the taste of sand as your head is permanently buried in there, so good for you mate.

I can see Macatee was utter shit last night, your the only person on the forum who can't.

Summer will be interesting. Seems we have a market for both Morato and Ndoye.

Lucca goes back. McAtee will depend on MGW but he’s no like for like replacement for him. If MGW stays I think we have a market for McAtee at roughly the £22m we paid for him.

Bakwa might be the project to try and resurrect in pre season?

Wrong again. The contexts and nuances are beyond your scope.

Compared to Yates, Anderson, Dom in that first half, and out of position, he was better than all 3

Out of position.

No he fucking wasn't
So we had an awful first half which we all agree on, and the reason for that was Lucca and McAtee and Morato (our fringe players)..?

Nothing on a clueless set up from the manger, and horrific performances from Anderson, Yates, Williams, Murillo, Dominguez? Our regular players…

The manager decided to rest players, and with a 3.0 headstart and our prem position who can blame him.

He quickly found out, same as the 3 before him the 2nd string are not good enough, and incapable of playing outside their usual positions.

that said a player of Murillos ability should eadilly be able to cope at left back and Mactee has in the past played all over the right side and again should be able to cope.

rectified it at half time, and in the end comfortable.

Dyche would have waited to 70 mins

Lucia just isn't good enough, Mactee has had 4 managers look at him and I doubt we'll see him again

VP earned the right to experiment last night with that superb display and result last week.
Gave fringe players a run last night, rested the top players and came through the tie.

Excellent management from Vito.

I do not understand your point.

Do you think we will replace Murillo, like for like?

I would say the chances of that happenning are at the fantasy end of the spectrum.

We need a solid central defender to play alongside Malenkovic, ideally one with pace.

Its very early days but Cunha looks good, both in the air and on the ground, displays good anticipation, and appears to have a bit of pace - that is a very good starting point.

He got isolated a little at times last night, but that is something to work on.

Murillo is an extravagance, and one we will have to cash in on, if not in the summer coming then in the next one; it would be fantastic if we had some sucession planning for once.

Agreed. Murillo out would need another experienced CB to come in, with Gatti again being linked
Cunha while different is murillos succession plan. He’s a great prospect

I do sympathise with those who spent exorbitant amounts of money on that. However, it was a dead rubber, what were you expecting? With the best will in the world, players will think they’ve done the hard work in the first leg, they are bound to be complacent.
There will be no excuse though, if we don’t get the result we need on Sunday. With us playing Man City afterwards and West Ham playing Liverpool we need to create a buffer.

I must have been watching a different match
Finbar seems to have this agenda of trying to promote McAtee as something other than a total, complete failure of a signing who has done nothing for us except repeatedly fail to make any impact on any match whatsoever.

I have no idea why.

Every time we remove him from the pitch we look better as a team.

I’d like to see Murillo alongside Sangare with Cunha alongside Milo

I think it comes from an embarrassment that we spent so much on players like Mcatee , Ndoye etc. people want them to succeed so the club overall is not seen as failure for recruiting them

My point is you said this:

Cunha was very good and looks like e ready made replacement for Murillo

Which implies Cunha is allready close to, or at Murillos level and is ready to step in right now.

When in reality, he has virtually zero prem game time, hardly played for us at all, and is far from "ready made replacement for Murillo"

Currently.

Thats not to say he could be in the future, looked ok last night, has pace for a big un but is no short term answer.
