Johnny On The Spot:

#Flawless. It is difficult to find the right superlatives to describe such a brilliant, controlled and accomplished Manchester City performance in Spain tonight, but I will give it a go. Quintessentially, The Blues were effing superb in every department, explosively released from last weekends domestic shackles...Every single player played to his strengths and was as fully committed to the cause as our fantastic travelling support. To a man, especially in the Double Nando-Touré axis City went after second balls like tigers and I think it's right there where this game was won... Surely this was City's finest European showing since the Manchester power shift took place...The first half was played out at a ferocious pace with City's intelligent wing play devastating a very good Sevilla side time and again. Make no mistake, the Spaniards clearly gave it their best shot, but they never fully recovered from an opening City blast that looked to have surprised them, Manuel Pellegrini sending out an apparantly super-charged side on a mission to go toe to toe from the off...The Engineer got his tactics absolutely spot on, as he cunningly switched his men from rapid pass and move high intensity mode to full control and counter mode for the second half...This truly was as perfect an away win in Europe as you could wish to see. Quite where this dazzling result will take an injury plagued City squad with Kun Aguero and David Silva chomping at the bit to return to action lends cause for great excitement. Confidence and belief will be bursting out of these players tonight. Not the least Raheem Sterling who was absolutely brilliant, breathtaking at times in an outstanding appearance. He's my Man of The Match. He's not only top of the league in England, he's top of the league in Europe now, as well. Now for Aston Villa.

Manuel Pellegrini:

"It is very important to qualify for the next stage, now we will try to qualify in first position. I'm happy with the way we played, we scored three goals, missed three of four clear chances to score, and we defended well. I was not happy with the way we were playing in the previous games, so I'm happy with our form tonight...The three midfielders - Yaya Toure, Fernandinho and Fernando - played well, pressed higher and our attack was really prepared. We played with one touch and moved into space, that was the reason we created so many chances."

Sergio Kun Aguero

"What a brilliant display by the whole team today! Let's keep growing strong in the Champions League! C'mon, City!"

An outstanding, mature performance with great contributions from all over the park (with one exception but I won't spoil the party spirit just now).

Delivered lest we not forget without Aguero and Silva.

Hats off to the manager who prepared his team superbly, nullifying the threat posed by Konoplyanka and getting his troops on message from the get go.

Sevilla were reduced to trying to buy extremely cheap free kicks and so well done to the officials who were having none of it

Everyone expected the same performance against Sevilla that they had witnessed at the Etihad, but City turned in a Champions league performance we have not previously seen from them.

Sevilla looked good on occasions, but City simply blew them away in the first half and contained them in the second, the lucky bastards, it should have been 10.

two games to go and qualification in the bag, now to win the group for the first time.

Still in shock, didn't see that coming at all. Loved seeing Fernandinho pressing so high up the pitch, he's brilliant at it.

I know, such a weird feeling and feels a bit surreal. So used to the feeling of frustration that emerges even after the victory over Norwich - Where the players seem to have made the job harder than it needed to be - that to wake up feeling that I actually didn't dream it and I did enjoy a European tie still feels strange.

Once again the performance may be eclipsed in the media because Rugney has managed to score the rags first goal for over 400 minutes as they overcome that Colossus of European Football that is CSKA Moscow .......whilst City only managed to complete back to back wins against the two time winners of the Europa League, scoring three goals to win in a stadium where no English club has registered a victory, consigning a side with European credentials to their fist home defeat in the CL and qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition with two games remaining.

Hardly worth a mention really

Got to top the group from this position of strength.

Well done the rags on beating CSKA - didn't they win at Eastlands last year?

Yep, though we did hammer them at the Etihad the season before.

If you'd been able to get out KCT, they held the City fans back until the home fans had vacated the area and then only let them out in staggered groups apparently. No trouble from what I gather which is good to hear considering the shenanigans the night before.

I imagined it might have been something like that. Not heard of any trouble from the previous evening, shame if there was but there you go, blame it on too much rioja!

Unfortunately there was, seemed to be fairly minor, scum being scum.
