Look at my reply to Hindley, I fully agree Costelloe should have buried it.

I followed a link from Jeff's right as I couldn't get the game via my normal method when I am away, I only saw it on a 5" phone screen with commentary from a Radio station in the Milton Keynes/Luton area, they said the miss was Perkins, I didn't see it live as I only got the stream just before half time, I just saw the highlights at half time, I had been reading on here prior to that and saw everyone slating Costelloe for the miss.

After seeing the proper Sky TV highlights via YouTube I realised and rectified what I posted.

Yep I seen ur reply to HindleyM after I'd posted mine...just sometimes tho your so quick off the mark ready to shoot posts down that people reply straight back ( like myself) .....fair play tho to holding ur hands up....

My reply above sounds like a wee Cowboy Western ....'shoot' 'hold ur hand up' 'quick of the mark'...... seems like i missed out on the 'Pistols at dawn'

Burns is still a young lad who hasn't played much 'mans' football and they were particularly physical, but he has handled everything so far with aplomb.

He also hasn't had much game time so far this season, so it could be given how we were in control of the game GC was protecting him slightly.

He looks so assured so far, he is arguably the one player at the back that we do not want to lose through a stress injury that has already affected youngsters Higgins then Luke Harris tonight.

Not to mention Trevit who hasn't had a pre season since a long term layoff and perhaps again not fully match fit.

I have to say, after dropping my wife off earlier today for a long weekend with our friends in France, (I wasn't missing tonight. AND Stockport!) I was nervous for tonight.

However, things went as I wished/hoped for.

I'm not sure though if I'm disappointed or surprised (or rather, not surprised) by the absence of posting traffic tonight. Something tells me, the place would have been alive if the result has been different. 👀

Really like the look of Burns. We missed him when he came off on Sunday

I can only presume with Fox, he wanted to be in the "first choice 1st XI". GC couldn't guarantee that, so Fox was made available ... but when he didn't leave, both parties were man enough to work things out.

Zero pace, but a great reader of the game.
 
Funny game football it’s all about opinions. Burton fans raving. About Vickers.
And the same with Notts county. Over Cooper. And Mustapha.
 
Some really good football in and around the box last night - didn't force the play and the movement, particularly by Reggie Walsh was excellent at times. You could also see the back three had a bit more confidence in Joe Whitworth and stepped forwards a bit more. Weir and Power took their goals very well.

Completely dumbfounded by Burns getting a yellow card for having the audacity to run into Sam Nombe's elbow. Shades if Conor Sammon vs Man United where he got sent off after being elbowed by Nemanja Vidic.

A little word on Max Power - his positioning was much better than it has been. Brad Burrowes' composure to take the sting out of the ball was fantastic. When we get the ball down and play, we're a problem for anyone.

If I were to nit-pick, we were wide open for their goal, and Dara Costelloe's wayward shooting in good areas was frustrating, but overall we coped well with them.

Ha ha ha! The moment Mellish came on, I said to myself I sure hope to God we get a 3rd. At 2 - 1 I'd have been nervous as hell.

That being said, I was nervous at 3 - 1. Especially with them kinda getting on top towards the end.

I thought he did OK when he came on except for one heart in mouth moment.

Overall a decent performance as 3 & a half out of the 4 games have been. Difference being our play resulted in & was rewarded with goals. Who needs strikers when you have goal scoring midfielders.

I also felt quite assured with Whitworth & he actually gave me confidence by pulling off a few good saves. Especially the one at point blank range where he made himself big.

Fox provided balance on the left of the back 3. It was by far his best game this season. He isn't suited to being in the centre of the 3 & for that reason IMO, his performances haven't been up to much thus far. But there was a lot more balance in the defence last night.

Murray had a great game. Quashing any rumours of a transfer. I thought Perkins had his best game too. Weir & Power were immense.

Special shout out to Walsh & Burrows.

Better balance last night throughout the team. Hopefully this can kick start us now.

On the subject of red cards i thought Costelloe was fortunate not to get one for that swipe at their winger just before he went off. He made no attempt for the ball and just tried to clatter his legs. Typical of him he missed the intended target but the intent was obvious.
