Notwithstanding how others choose to rate our progress so far, if we take away the results, then even considering the poor defending for most of the goals we've conceded, I think most of us would have expected us to have a few points on the board from the way we've played the games. However, cos we didn't put away any of the chances, we've got sweet FA.

I think that will change. Maybe not with Costelloe (as he does seem to have a problem with composing himself) but certainly with Perkins ... and the supporting cast: Higgins, Walsh, Barrett, Miller, Harris and the rest.

So, 3-1 to us ... a badly needed win and confidence booster ahead of hauling ourselves higher up the table through the rest of the month.

I’m just glad we all unequivocally agreed that we absolutely didn’t need more strikers and the strategy of letting all our goals come from deep midfielders was 100% the way to go.

Letting MK Dons sign Nombe and pretending we didn’t have the money to bid for him was also an absolute classic.

Trying to sell Morgan Fox and signalling we were going to bring in a younger model and then deciding against it in order to inspire and refocus him also clearly worked.

Textbook transfer window all in all.

Coming home next Friday so we can go to Sheffield Wednesday, I then have my follow up and results from my surgery the following Wednesday, if everything is OK we will do the Wycombe and Blackpool midweek games then head back down here, I may even do a detour via Leicester game on the 26th as it is a ground we haven't been to.

Weir is currently 9th top scorer in the league and on pace for 23 goals for the year with a ratio of 1 goal in 2 (league only). Admittedly a small sample size.
 
That result has been brewing over the past few games. Certain aspects of our game seemed to have clicked and we looked more balanced with Fox and Murray on the left.

A shame about the injury to Luke Harris. Hopefully it’s not serious but he looked devastated.

New keeper looked pretty assured, which seemed to make our defense a bit more settled and composed. Perkins and Dara had better games and just a shame that nothing clear cut opened up for them. They both need a couple of tap ins to build their confidence.

I thought weir was a bit off it but then when he doesn’t really have time to think and just plays first time, he can strike a ball well. Similar with Max who was struggling to impact the game and his set pieces were off, but then took his goal really well.

Definitely positives to build from and good that we’re being a bit more ruthless and willing to take shots on

Max and GC had a right go at each other immediately after the first goal. Not too sure what it was about but think Max wasn’t really holding the position that GC wanted and that then lead to the goal. GC seemed to laugh it off but definitely clear that they didn’t agree about something.

Our first. I expect GC wasn’t really wanting Max coming wide but then that led to him teeing up Weir. I only saw the end of it where they were proper arguing for a few seconds. My guess is that Max told him to let him play his game and go where he wants. We know he’s a big personality and is a dominant player who wants to run things

But didn't = thankfully. WTF was Caldwell thinking in taking off Burns (who was having an excellent game) for the hapless & bereft of confidence Mellish god only knows. MK are just a team of brutish Vinny Jones type of players & not the best game to bring poor ole Mellish on to try n see out a 2 goal lead....yes we scored a 3rd few minutes after he came in but imo it wasn't good player management.

Honestly SCM....he should have buried it, we all thot it was a goal, I even looked at our keeper who was celebrating & after the euphoria of the goal celebrations everyone was looking at each other thinking no way has he missed that....everyone just thot, yep thats a tap in, goal to us....
