Favourite (non-Animated) sitcom of all time

One Bloody Number
I'm gonna make this multi-choice and would request everyone pick their top 5.

What are your faves?

In no particular order my top 5 are -

Blackadder
Red Dwarf
Only Fools & Horses
Fawlty Towers
Steptoe & Son

I love The Big Bang Theory of the current ones, but feel it has now run too long and lost it's way. Still, worth a vote.

For longevity and genius, I have selected Porridge. It never seems to age, and it still makes me laugh.

Blackadder is a classic, so that was an easy selection.

Men Behaving badly just reminds me of a good time in my life.

Red Dwarf is just funny. Simple as.

I'm sure I've missed plenty off the list. Peep Show and League of Gentlemen would make my top 10 easily, and also no room for Bottom.

Tried to pick ones that I thought others might like such as Alan Partridge, Dad's Army and The Royal Family even though personally I think they're gash.

Really difficult

In no order

Phoenix Nights
Fawlty Towers
Only Fools and Horses
Father Ted
Blackadder

Can't believe I have left Porridge and 'allo 'allo out.

Difficult, a lot of classics there but, in no order

The Office
Cheers (brings back memories!)
Blackadder
Fawlty Towers
Phoenix Nights

But now looking, I missed only fools and horses out... damn!

It is tough, isn't it.

I suppose it is the length of time. So many good ones in there.

I never really got Fawlty Towers. I struggle with farce, so that probably explains it.

Frasier, Two and a Half Men, How I Met your Mother or Modern Family might make it on to some peoples list, but for me they aren't as good as the ones I've selected.

Tough choice, but definitely no room for any room for American Sitcoms which I can't stand.

Fawlty Towers
The Office
The Royle Family
Only Fools and Horses
Alan Partridge

It is tempting to be 'cool' and go against the grain and not vote for Fools & Horses, but sod that...I'm happy to be a sheep.

Greatest of all time in my humble.

I'm not joking or exaggerating when I say I must have watched every episode more that 30 times each (just ask Natalie, drives her mad even though she likes it too), I just can;t get enough and I always laugh even though I know whats coming.

Timeless and never gets boring. Simply the best.

Blackadder is a close 2nd.

Red Dwarf 3rd.

Then Steptoe and Fawlty neck and neck.

I loved Father Ted.

Mind you I thought Car Share was very very good , and also the Wrong Mans was clever as well.

Difficult to choose 5 but i'll give it a go. In no particular order:

Seinfeld
Only Fools and Horses
Father Ted
Red Dwarf
Silicon Valley

Can still remember flicking channels, didn't take long back then, there were only 4 and landing on BBC 2. The young ones. Parents were out. I sat there in total wonder and awe that it was even allowed on the tv.

Brilliant stuff!

I struggle to understand how anyone could find THE OFFICE even remotely funny.
FAWLTY TOWERS is the standard. And remember, there were only twelve episodes.
ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES comes a close second.

I struggle to understand how anyone could find THE OFFICE even remotely funny.

The Office was a real game changer when it came all along. That kind of humour is not everyones cup of tea but I love it. And you have to give it to Gervais and Merchant, it has influenced so much since in comedy, on TV or film, all over the world.

Of course, The Office probably wouldn't exist without The Larry Sanders Show which came before it, another great show and a huge influence on Gervais.

Fawlty Towers

Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads

Only Fools And Horses

The Good Life

Father Ted

MASH.....The Young Ones....Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em....Bewitched......Modern Family.Till Death Us Do Part (Alf Garnet)

Too many to nail a top 5!

Brilliant thread.

Only fools and horses

Phoenix nights - 'Brian, there's a horse in the jocky wilson suite !.'

The Royle family

Blackadder

Fawlty Towers- i so get Basil's anger at life.

An honourable mention to -
Early Doors - same principal as The Royle family but set in a pub written and starring Craig Cash but not that well known.
