The father of a 2-year-old with late-stage cancer is facing jail time for using cannabis oil in an attempt to ease his daughter’s suffering.

When Adam Koessler’s 2-year-old daughter Rumer Rose was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma recently, he began supplementing her chemo treatments with doses of cannabis oil, seeing “amazing” results.

“The results were amazing,” he writes. “What we saw when Rumer was given the medical cannabis oil what nothing short of miraculous. Her cancer ridden little body was alive again — Rumer had almost instant quality of life…Her skin color came back, her eyes were sparkling again…We were certain after seeing these results that her recovery was entirely possible.”

He told Australian newspaper the Newcastle Herald: “Her cancer-ridden little body was alive again – Rumer had almost instant quality of life.

“She would say ‘Daddy, tummy’s not sore’ and she would be able to eat like a champion and began to gain weight.

“Her energy was up and she wanted to go outside with me instead of lay on her back with her legs curled up.

“Her skin colour came back, her eyes were sparkling again and we just looked at each other in complete amazement.”

His bail conditions now mean that he is not allowed to contact his daughter, who is currently in intensive care, following seizures after she stopped taking the cannabis oil.

I think they mean after the authorities stopped her treatment with cannabis oil.

Cannabis is very very dangerous, it is a direct threat to the profits of the petro chemical and pharmaceutical companies, now we can't have that can we.

Much better to let the child suffer and die.

Oh and quite right. I mean, heaven forbid a dad should be allowed to alleviate the vile suffering of his little princess.

This world is severely effed up.

Are we pretending that nobody knows the benefits of weed medicinally? Even if I can't spell it?

Pharma can produce it legally, for the same benefits...this chap didn't have a permit or pay the right people I imagine?

It's not a conspiracy becaue Pharma have it as a revenue stream.

The biggest worry with this story is, who calls their kid Rumour?

God she's going to be talked about!

Oh Mike
come on now - clearly it's a CIA/pharma/oil ?/alien/ bigfoot
conspiracy. More tinfoil matron...............

Whats the world coming to when eejits can't give their kids drugs - at least it was part of a gluten free 'therapy'.
Combined with some healing crystals, tofu and a couple of dreamcatchers it could easily revolutionise medicine.
halfwits

Hits me as the same as the couple who took their kid to France for cancer treatment last year...boxes weren't ticked etc and that actually says a lot about the bloody society we live in for me.

IF there's a better treatment, who ticks boxes?

The medicinal benefits are known, Pharma get the profits and grow their own but it's legislational bullshit that stops it from being more widely used because politicians across the globe think alcohol is fine, but weed isn't.

People don't draw the line between weed and crystal meth and the tabloid scum don't help in their reporting because they always sensationalise bullshit.

But I'm guessing your response is sarcastic and you thought I was being sarcastic...scientific benefits have already been proven...I wasn't being sarcastic.

Weed has immense medical benefits, just as pure cocaine does.

I'm just waiting on Skeggy coming in here and saying that if the same option was open to him he wouldn't do it

Bullshit Mr Han Man, I know I would and fuck the police

I can clearly demonstrate the benefit medically when I flair up.

When I get the uncontrollable shakes, cannabis is the only thing that can stop it. However, my choice is not to smoke as with my brain already fogged up it doesn't really float my boat. ...but can't argue that it stems it incredibly quicker

Only other things that might work, I'd not try, would be the very high morphine doses or feck you totally tranquilisers perhaps

But no no, weed is evil. ...!

I donated to the cause as well as I believe it shouldnt be illegal...

I think its a disgrace especially when you consider they still ban it in all form even the stuff for industrial purposes that cannot get you high... Its pathetic and if ever there was a blatant example of the Government being used as a tool of corporations this stuff is it...

Pharma can only patent a chemical derivative of a plant, not a plant itself, in this case the part is not greater than the whole.

So of course you keep the plant banned, the words "not a conspiracy" shouldn't even be in the same room as the word cannabis.

In the 1930s, innovations in farm machinery would have caused an industrial revolution when applied to hemp. This single resource could have created millions of new jobs generating thousands of quality products. Hemp, if not made illegal, would have brought America out of the Great Depression.

William Randolph Hearst (Citizen Kane) and the Hearst Paper Manufacturing Division of Kimberly Clark owned vast acreage of timberlands. The Hearst Company supplied most paper products. Patty Hearst's grandfather, a destroyer of nature for his own personal profit, stood to lose billions because of hemp.

In 1937, Dupont patented the processes to make plastics from oil and coal. Dupont's Annual Report urged stockholders to invest in its new petrochemical division. Synthetics such as plastics, cellophane, celluloid, methanol, nylon, rayon, Dacron, etc., could now be made from oil. Natural hemp industrialization would have ruined over 80% of Dupont's business.

Andrew Mellon became Hoover's Secretary of the Treasury and Dupont's primary investor. He appointed his future nephew-in-law, Harry J. Anslinger, to head the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Secret meetings were held by these financial tycoons. Hemp was declared dangerous and a threat to their billion dollar enterprises. For their dynasties to remain intact, hemp had to go. These men took an obscure Mexican slang word: 'marihuana' and pushed it into the consciousness of America.

A media blitz of 'yellow journalism' raged in the late 1920s and 1930s. Hearst's newspapers ran stories emphasizing the horrors of marihuana. The menace of marihuana made headlines. Readers learned that it was responsible for everything from car accidents to loose morality.
Films like 'Reefer Madness' (1936), 'Marihuana: Assassin of Youth' (1935) and 'Marihuana: The Devil's Weed' (1936) were propaganda designed by these industrialists to create an enemy. Their purpose was to gain public support so that anti-marihuana laws could be passed.

Examine the following quotes from 'The Burning Question' aka REEFER MADNESS: a violent narcotic. acts of shocking violence. incurable insanity. soul-destroying effects. under the influence of the drug he killed his entire family with an ax. more vicious, more deadly even than these soul-destroying drugs (heroin, cocaine) is the menace of marihuana!

Reefer Madness did not end with the usual 'the end.' The film concluded with these words plastered on the screen: TELL YOUR CHILDREN.

In the 1930s, people were very naive; even to the point of ignorance. The masses were like sheep waiting to be led by the few in power. They did not challenge authority. If the news was in print or on the radio, they believed it had to be true. They told their children and their children grew up to be the parents of the baby-boomers.

On April 14, 1937, the Prohibitive Marihuana Tax Law or the bill that outlawed hemp was directly brought to the House Ways and Means Committee. This committee is the only one that can introduce a bill to the House floor without it being debated by other committees. The Chairman of the Ways and Means, Robert Doughton, was a Dupont supporter. He insured that the bill would pass Congress.

Dr. James Woodward, a physician and attorney, testified too late on behalf of the American Medical Association. He told the committee that the reason the AMA had not denounced the Marihuana Tax Law sooner was that the Association had just discovered that marihuana was hemp.

Few people, at the time, realized that the deadly menace they had been reading about on Hearst's front pages was in fact passive hemp. The AMA understood cannabis to be a MEDICINE found in numerous healing products sold over the last hundred years.

In September of 1937, hemp became illegal. The most useful crop known became a drug and our planet has been suffering ever since.
Congress banned hemp because it was said to be the most violence-causing drug known. Anslinger, head of the Drug Commission for 31 years, promoted the idea that marihuana made users act extremely violent. In the 1950s, under the Communist threat of McCarthyism, Anslinger now said the exact opposite. Marijuana will pacify you so much that soldiers would not want to fight.

Today, our planet is in desperate trouble. Earth is suffocating as large tracts of rain forests disappear. Pollution, poisons and chemicals are killing people. These great problems could be reversed if we industrialized hemp. Natural biomass could provide all of the planet's energy needs that are currently supplied by fossil fuels. We have consumed 80% of our oil and gas reserves. We need a renewable resource.

Hemp has a higher quality fiber than wood fiber. Far fewer caustic chemicals are required to make paper from hemp than from trees. Hemp paper does not turn yellow and is very durable. The plant grows quickly to maturity in a season where trees take a lifetime.

Hempen plastics are biodegradable! The process to produce the vast array of natural (hempen) plastics will not ruin the rivers as Dupont and other petrochemical companies have done. Ecology does not fit in with the plans of the Oil Industry and the political machine. Hemp products are safe and natural.

We should go back to the days when the AMA supported cannabis cures. 'Medical Marijuana' is given out legally to only a handful of people while the rest of us are forced into a system that relies on chemicals. Pot is only healthy for the human body.

A large variety of food products can be generated from hemp. The seeds contain one of the highest sources of protein in nature. ALSO: They have two essential fatty acids that clean your body of cholesterol. These essential fatty acids are not found anywhere else in nature! Consuming pot seeds is the best thing you could do for your body. Eat uncooked hemp seeds.

Hemp clothing is extremely strong and durable over time. You could hand clothing, made from pot, down to your grandchildren.

The liquor, tobacco and oil companies fund more than a million dollars a day to Partnership for a Drug-Free America and other similar agencies. We have all seen their commercials. Now, their motto is: ‘It's more dangerous than we thought.’ Lies from the powerful corporations, that began with Hearst, are still alive and well today.

The brainwashing continues. Now, the commercials say: If you buy a joint, you contribute to murders and gang wars. The latest anti-pot commercials say: If you buy a joint...you are promoting TERRORISM! The new enemy (terrorism) has paved the road to brainwash you any way THEY see fit.

No, there is no conspiracy theory here.

It's always been a conspiracy fact.

I remember a poster posting something similar to my opening post a few years ago now, he was ridiculed and ripped into, an American* female acandemic (if I recall correctly) called him an idiot, and branded him "dangerous" giving false hope to people and spreading lies, it's nice that we appear to be entering a more enlightened time.

*Goes to prove the brainwashing works!

This world is dictating parents care now for there kids which is scary, who the feck am anybody to stop a parent from helping a suffering child if it takes her out of pain ffs, we got to be careful here the power we am allowing these at the top to have, is it too late me wonders?

It's never too late to fight back Clive, even when your hands and feet are bound, you can always bite their bloody ankles, the black knight rules.

http://modernfarmer.com/2013/10/legal-industrial-hemp-wont-matter/

Worldwide, only about 200,000 acres of land were devoted to hemp cultivation in 2011, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization, with that number being “flat to decreasing” in recent years in the 30 countries where hemp is cultivated.

There are good reasons for this. Chief among them is demand, which isn’t as high as hemp’s loudest proponents would have it. In Europe, demand fell through the 20th century as industrial buyers increasingly chose cheaper or better alternatives for many applications — often artificial fibers.

The one big benefit of hemp? Its environmental footprint is relatively small. It requires few pesticides and no herbicides. It’s an excellent rotation crop, often used to suppress weeds and loosen soil before the planting of winter cereals. On the other hand, it requires a relatively large amount of water, and its need for deep, humus-rich, nutrient-dense soil limits growing locales.

And hemp cultivation is highly labor intensive. Loflin, the Colorado farmer, took to social media to recruit 45 people to help him harvest his crop by hand over a weekend. “Use of a mechanical combine,” the Denver Post reported, “would have harmed the plants’ stalks.” That’s one reason prices are so high — about six times the cost of wood pulp. Hemp is an annual crop, which means it must be stored in order to be processed throughout the year, further adding to the cost of using it — and to the incentive for using something else.

None of which is to say that the outlook for hemp is not bright. It certainly seems to be, as long as we keep things in their proper perspective. That means ignoring claims such as hemp becoming a “trillion-dollar crop” that “could finally allow people to grow money on trees.”

http://hemphoax.org/hemp-myths/hemp-produces-four-times-more-paper-per-acre-per-year-than-trees/

When grown on similar soils under similar management, trees consistently outproduce hemp on a per acre, per year basis. The myth is derived by misrepresenting a 1916 USDA study comparing hemp on ideal agricultural soil under fertilization with unmanaged natural stands of trees on soil too poor to farm. The 4X more statistic also was calculated by assuming the use of the hemp hurds for paper, which is only a hypothetical industry; the real hemp paper industry employs the bast fiber, which is a smaller portion of the hemp plant than the hurd. Thus, the “four times more per acre” argument is complete nonsense.

http://hemphoax.org/hemp-myths/the-marihuana-tax-act-of-1937-outlawed-hemp-or-caused-the-hemp-industry%e2%80%99s-demise/

The MTA required hemp farmers to get a $1 permit each year. That’s it. It did not outlaw hemp in any way. The law was passed in 1937; hemp farming persisted until 1957, and the USDA was still trying (unsucessfully) to get American farmers to grow hemp until at least 1952, when it re-issued an informational bulletin on growing the crop. The last hemp growers in the U.S. (Rens family in Wisconsin) claim that the MTA was not a hindrance to their operation. Hemp disappeared as a crop completely due to economic reasons, and the MTA had nothing to do with it.

Oh Heath - please no actual facts.
All the drivel comes from Herer and stands up to no rational examination
- of course that doesn't stop it being repeated and becoming FACT for the tinfoil brigade.

Weird no other Country or company cleaned up with this wonder product - must all be in on the conspiracy I guess.

Sorry Juan, you really think Phama wouldn't like weed legalised? They can legally only dabble but it's a growth for them.

Legalise it, and then PR it like everything else and they'd be quids in. Especially with the strains modified to remove the daft effects little teenagers like.

It boils down to politicians (especially American's) not wanting to lose face, not wanting to face the next questions such as cocaine in purest form being a benefit given the fuddy duddy bullshit in previous years.

Weed is the start, that's the problem - but nobody has the balls to realise it could be the end also.

There's a reason Pharma lobbies for greater powers to use weed.

Or with respect dude, are you missing the point that legalisation means they can do more with the derivative? And the openly sell it to everyone without jumping through the hoops they have to.

It would suit them, that's why they spend money trying to change it. Whether that's right or wrong and driven by the dollar it's the truth.

It's a closed shop driven by profit - not help - but current laws world wide close a revenue stream they want to exploit, so to blame them on a conspiracy for not being able to exploit that revenue stream - sorry dude, not for me. Your issue (right) is with others and not Pharma this time.

Same as cocaine in purest form...but the internet reliably gives great information for both sides - doesn't it.
