FAO - Digger Re Lewis Wing

Disappointing outcome. Makes you wonder about the reasons. Thought Wednesday were skint, couldn't pay their players wages, etc., up to a few days ago.

Yes, quite a shock to me too.
I was hoping we were gonna keep him this season, but read on BBC red button thing that he's gone to your friends at Hillsborough.

Have to say i didnt see that one coming (or going as the case may be)

From Warney's post-match interview tonight (after Newcastle game) it sounds like he was interested in signing Wing. Why that couldn't have been part of the Crooks deal, I don't know, BUT it would have required "joined-up thinking" from our transfer negotiators - they probably wouldn't have been capable of doing that.

Mind you he is reportedly on £15k a week - that's as much as our whole squad!

But I have to say I am a bit peeved that we didn't get him for another season.

How can S6 afford to pay that amount? (legally?)

I had hoped we might have a better chance of getting him when the Crooks deal was on!

All a bit weird.
Only quote from Warnock (that i can find) about it is that he didn't want Wing to go !!!

Must be the lure of the 'big bucks' then! Although if I wanted a change and money then the last place I'd go at the moment is Hillsborough.
