The Fear

A Wise Man (once sat next to him)
Got another FCG meeting before Barnsley match with CEO and other staff.

Any points you want raising?

Points so far:

Agenda points so far (not talking about the presentation just the points we've all raised so far)

Sad to see the Villa store in New Street has closed. A club of our size in the second city should have a presence. Just a thought to a city centre location maybe a re-brand would work. Something along the lines of a Coffee shop / sports bar or something within a store with appearance being more 2017 maybe. Grand Central location with a bigger footfall - tourists, advertising, brand awareness - coffee shop or bar area type would help increase revenue to ensure its sustainable.

Shop and corporate outsourcing. What is the idea/the plan?

Minor point, telling fans on twitter to be patient isn’t the best idea.

Drop in standards corporate

Run out song

Phone/ Internet signal/wifi surely in this day and age and with Xia being so into technology we can all get a signal during matches?

Witton train station bridge paint job (the club have offered several times)

Details of the decision to move Mascot selection from being between season ticket holders and JV Life Members and free..... to being a paid privilege now at a fairly high cost.

Was this previous regime decision or current and could it be split (half free through draw and half paid hospitality privilege) so young fans that family's can't afford above the cost of the season ticket and other expenses on a match day could still get a chance.

Would Steve Bruce do a fans forum?

Maybe just for once someone should comment on the positive aspects JF like our thanks to Dr. Tony for backing Steve Bruce in the transfer window and the work put in by the management team to bring about
some of the player changes many have been screaming for. Whether the signings prove to be the right ones only time will tell but at least Bruce has had the backing.

General thumbs up to the good doctor for the work so far - especially acknowledging what a cock-up RDM was and not keeping him for the sake of pride.

Big bugbear is the Website. Not always reliable and if we're to really crack a global (chinese) market, will need to be. Live match coverage a case in point - I'll listen but also have BBC text commentary on in another tab. Nine times out of ten the lag is so bad that goals come up on the BBC before we hear them "live".

I think we just signed a deal with a specialist outfit (Fanatics?) to do all the merchandising. I guess that is why the city centre outlet has been dropped. That doesn' make closing it down a good idea, but it may be worth asking what concrete expectations of Fanatics (or whoever) we have.

If we want bigger crowds for a bigger stadium we will need to attract the half committed. What plans to the club have for this? And specifically in terms of improving access/cutting journey times to and from Villa Park?

yes, that's the point on outsourcing. done in corporate and now the shop with all the staff leaving and the entire thing outsourced as you rightly say to Fanatics

Be nice to have a little detail on what the fixed and floating charge over many Aston Villa related companies registered at Companies House in favour of HSBC ( in Nov 16)
means for us.
(if not outside the scope of the meeting)

If you can word the question as you want it asked, I can put it to the FCG as to whether to put it on the agenda or not mate. And then up to the club whether to answer or not obviously!

Agenda points:

A note of thanks for Xia/Wyness changing manager when it wasn't working and transfer backings

Leading onto:

Shop and corporate outsourcing. What is the idea/the plan? (Includes drop in standards in corporate plus why the metal detectors going into corporate and not all the entrances to Villa Park?)

Any plans to be radical with the pricing structure to attract fans back?

Update on safe standing.

Details of the decision to move mascot selection from being between season ticket holders and JV Life Members and free..... to being a paid privilege now at a fairly high cost. What is the split between paid and free? Many can’t afford the price of a season ticket AND the privilege of being a mascot but young season ticket holders should be rewarded.

Would Steve Bruce do a fans forum?

Quicker points:

Phone/ Internet signal/wifi surely in this day and age and with Xia being so into technology we can all get a signal during matches?

Run out song. Emerson Lake and Palmer, it is ridiculous.

Witton train station bridge paint job (the club have offered several times)

Website problems. Any plans to upgrade?

Could more U23 matches could be streamed live on Facebook.

Minor point, telling fans on twitter to be patient isn’t the best idea.

Any likelihood the Lions Club in the Doug Ellis will be reopened?

Was closed at the start of the season due to cost-cutting etc. but attendances have been pretty much the same as last year so any possibility of re-opening?

This is a serious point : If the 'fans' in the directors area after halftime can't be bothered to take their seats until the 55th minute keep them down below.
Like at Wembley it's embarrassing to the real fans and looks awfull on TV.

I know it's probably not possible nor controlled by the club, but with it looking like we will be spending at least another season in the Championship can they do anything to allow us overseas fans to watch the club more.

I've just looked and the Newcastle match is televised but other than that I don't know the next time I'll be able to watch the club.

I know that the majority on here hate TV games because it seems to stop fans from heading to Villa park, and I get that, but I can't exactly feasibly be flying back and forth to Birmingham from NYC on a biweekly basis.

Here in the states every sports league (MLB/NHL/NFL/NBA) allows displaced fans to buy a yearly or monthly subscription to watch the out of market games, would be great if something similar could happen, even if it's just for home games.

Hell, I'd probably seriously consider buying a season ticket and letting Acorns or another local hospital use it for every home game, so long as it allowed me to view a tv feed of the game.

Just a thought from an American

Yank and JF: Dr X spoke at the beginning of his tenure, of wanting to bring in virtual season tickets for those who live too far away to attend regularly or at all. Is there any news on this please? If it is still being looked at and if so have we any timelines on when this will happen that fans can watch virtually?

If it's any consolation KK, the team are only 'virtually' playing at the moment, so you're not missing a great deal :19:

Can't add any further points now. I did start this thread and bounce it back up several times.

You are right though The Yank that is outside of the club scope at the moment contract wise.

Ha ha misread your Agenda points post, thought you were still bouncing :62:

1. Bham Airport. Virtually all airports i have been to have displays of local sports merchandise. Bham Airport has a JJB selling Man Utd. We should have a store, or at least a display

2. Change that run out music. Black Sabbath seem obvious choice

3. Website is a-pall-ing darling !

4. Keep Trinity open and if needed give the tickets away to kids. Maybe give tgem to local kids football league teams or something

5. Dont get why football clubs want fans in at 2.56 and gone by 4.55. Why not put incentives for fans to get there early, and thus spend money. Maybe local bands playing at 2.00, ex players on concourses for photos , give aways from sponsors etc...

6. As every year, more incentive to buy a season ticket.

7. Old style sports forums - where have they gone ?

8. Badge , get rid quick. Symbolises failure. Either 57 or Round badge back with simple star above it

Thatll do for now
