FA Cup Campaign 2025

We have a great opportunity to progress into the quarter finals because despite what others may think I don't think Ipswich will be up for it. I'm sure they'll be more focused on achieving premier league survival.

Win tomorrow night and that's £225,000 prize money in the bank. Beat Brighton and that's £450,000 + gate receipts and tv money.

Saturday 17:15 kick off at Brighton and live on BBC 1 (more money in the bank). Shit for those travelling home to Nottingham after the game but at least it's not midweek.

So straight after the international break we have our quarter-final with Brighton followed, 3 days later, by an important PL game v Man United and 4 days later, an away game v Aston Villa.

In such a busy week, it therefore seems likely that Nuno will rotate the team for the FA Cup game. Man U don't play the Saturday we play in the Cup. We will want to match their energy and intensity in the PL game.

I had hoped Nuno would be able to play his strongest side in the FA Cup and avoid the kind of disjointed, low quality performance we saw against Ipswich. But that now seems unlikely.

Play the strongest side available, we have the chance of an FA Cup semi final - every successful side suffers fixture congestion - Villa are still in FA Cup + Europe.

Man Utd in Europe too - the bigger issue for me, is that all players involved in internationals come back fit (or don't go)!

The mirror reckon our game will be on the Sunday

If Villa make it through to the next round of Champions League they would be playing either Tuesday or Wednesday latest after the FA Cup semi final weekend

And could be away from home to make it even worse

Which means they surely can't give them a Sunday match with 4.30pm kick off?

Makes sense for us to be the Sunday game

Am I the only one that thought Rashford was mediocre at best apart from a tap in & a penalty - against the mighty Preston
You definitely have to question his contribution if his effort helped Preston win.

Villa are a strange team. Whoever the opposition they appear to be in second gear for first part of match, then either never get out of second gear or have a patch in third or fourth gear for 15 mins before managing the game out.

They don’t inspire confidence that they can turn it on in a sustainable way. This is reflected in their league position and they have a very difficult run in, plus PSG x2 and Palace.

Villa’s and Rashford head will drop, confidence will diminish and results will drop.

How many points do you think they'll finish on, chap?
