Opportunity or distraction?
Pools have rarely done well in the competition, though there have been some memorable victories over the years.
Crystal Palace, Stoke at the Vic coming to mind.

Good opportunity to put money in the bank, if you are performing consistently, getting decent results and filling the paying public with confidence, at the end of the day it’s their money going into the bank.

Unfortunately we are none of the above and as DS alluded to in a recent interview, before swiftly changing the subject, he hardly has a prolific record against sides lower down the football pyramid.

Saying that there’s this niggling, smallest of inklings that he may well turn this round. It’s a big ask for such a stubborn almost arrogant individual but if he truly believes in himself anything can happen, can’t see it from here, but this is pools we are talking about.

The Palace game will stick in my mind forever. We were struggling then but never moaned then just got on with it and lived for days like that. Big Bad Bob still my hero.

Like you Vic78 I still have fond memories of Big Bob, though I doubt his "style" of play would be allowed these days. Similarly I doubt Roy Hogan would avoid multiple bookings in these days of "dark arts"!
As for struggling, Pools in 60s, 70s & 80s were perennial strugglers! Times have changed somewhat since then.

Will Pools be entertaining Braintree in 1st Round "proper"; or will Tuesday night see the end of our FA Cup adventure this season?
