Expiring Contracts

Bluedub

Alert Team
7 of our first team squad contracts expire this summer meaning from January they are free to discuss terms with clubs abroad.

What I want to know is who if any from the seven should be offered new deals?

The only player I would want to keep is Fernandinho. Cracking player and I'd be gutted if he left. As for the rest of them... :009:

I'm thinking just Fernandinho too, need to hurry up and get him signed up.

Taking the other six into account we're going to free up a lot of squad places for new recruits and also free up wages, particularly where Yaya is concerned. Gives us lots of room for manoeuvre next summer.

It also got me thinking about last summer's transfer activity, it seems obvious to me that we decided not to change our full backs for financial reasons, when you consider what we may have got for our full backs in transfer fees and also paying up the remainder of their contracts it seems we weren't willing/able to take the financial hit. I just hope it doesn't cost us in terms of CL qualification (and the financial ramifications of failing to qualify) come season's end.

Ferna, a no brainer and Yaya if he wants it as a squad player on a lower salary for 1 yr, but I think he will be off to that totalitarian regime in China.

No love for Bacary or Gael?
No love from me, both have had stellar well paid football careers, time for a couple of new players with younger legs.

Which begs the question, why isn't Angelino getting a chance to stake his claim? especially given the consistently poor performances from Clichy.

Reports today saying that Fernandinho's contract runs until summer 2018 despite it being widely reported as a 4 year deal when he signed for the club.
