Vital Football Hero
Blackpool manager Gary Bowyer has admitted he fears losing some of his best players for free this summer. Don’t miss the latest football news and gossip from leagues in England, Scotland and Europe with footballwire.co.uk Fourteen Seasiders players will be out of contract at the end of the current season. Among them are top scorer Kyle Vassell and senior men Kelvin Mellor, Clark Robertson, Jay Spearing and Mark Cullen. In fact, the only first-team regulars who are under contract for next season are Curtis Tilt, Ollie Turton and Jimmy Ryan. Hartman Cast Aluminium Sliding Pergola £422 £422 This versatile pergola comes with a bronze finish & a bronze canopy that will slide. Promoted by hayesgardenworld.co.uk Loan players Joe Lumley, Sean Longstaff and Viv Solomon-Otabor will return to their parent clubs when their Pool deals expire at the end of the season. Bowyer has encouraged the club’s hierarchy to enter into negotiations with a number of players, but given the off-field situation at Bloomfield Road this is yet to happen. It is understood Bowyer asked the club to sit down with players following Blackpool’s play-off triumph in May of last year but those meetings never materialised. The Pool boss admitted: “We’ve got several out of contract, which is worrying for me personally and for the club as well. “We need to try to sit down but obviously there’s stuff happening off-the-pitch which is totally out of my control. “But we want to get on with recruiting for next season and the first bit of that, in my opinion, is tying down the players we want to keep here. “In an ideal world that would have already been sorted but with what’s happening here it’s not exactly ideal. “We’ve just got to wait and see what happens. I’m the same as all the other supporters who are just waiting to see what will become of it. “At the end of the day, I can’t bear any grudges with those players who go on and better themselves. “That’s what I said to them the very first minute I walked in two years ago. I want them to be the best players they can be, to make the most of their careers and get to the highest possible level they can. “The fact that some of them are out of contract and will be free transfers in the summer makes them even more attractive to the clubs higher up in the Championship. “I think whoever goes, if they do go, go with my blessing because they’ve achieved what I’ve asked them to do. “It’s been ongoing and we’ve been trying to get answers. Hopefully we can try and thrash something out as quickly as possible now we have a clearer picture of where we think we’ll be next season.”

We should move fast we don’t want another disaster like in years past.
Next years season tickets prices seem late we. are due an increase.

I think it'll all depend on whether we get new owners or not as to who gets retained...
You are correct of course but we still need to keep the spine,Lumley saying in the Gazette if he goes out on loan again next season he would like to come back to Pool.

We would certainly have a few more points in the bag if Lumley had been here all season. Great keeper with a big future ahead of him

Hope you are enjoying the sun Dave. Pretty nice down here. First time I will go to Gillingham without three coats on, chuffin' freezing that easterly wind in winter

Jim Mc staking his case for getting a new contract early doors

Jim McAlister was overjoyed to end a 14-month wait for a return to league action on the weekend.
The midfielder, who fractured his tibia against Colchester United in February 2017, has been on a long process of rehabilitation, with his only previous outing - against Shrewsbury Town in the Checkatrade Trophy - thwarted days later by another impact injury.
However, the 32-year-old has been back training again for the last few weeks and made a big step by featuring as a substitute at Gillingham.
"It obviously helps when the boys put in the type of performance that they did, getting a three-goal cushion. It made it easier for the manager to put on the likes of myself to get a 10-minute run-out," McAlister said.
"I got close in January, I got back on the field in January, albeit it was just the one appearance and you end up with a set-back. Mentally it can be quite challenging, but at this club you’re surrounded by good people, which helps massively, and good family as well back home. They’ve got us through times when I’ve felt quite low.
"I’ve said in the last couple of weeks that it’s now probably the first time I’ve been pain free with my leg. It’s just unfortunate that the season is coming to an end.I feel reasonably fit, though it’s completely different when you got out on the field of play, it’s a different kind of fitness. It was good and I really enjoyed it."
Full of enthusiasm for the final two matches of the campaign, McAlister is also relishing the prospect of preparing for a new season.
"I feel like a kid again. I’m buzzing to get back on the field of play and I’m now going to work hard at it over the summer. For once in my career, I’m looking forward to pre-season," he added.
