Everton fan Andy Burnham accused of 'sour grapes' after claiming referee 'favoured' Manchester City

Atkinson was extremely lenient with the cards given the fouls committed by Everton players last evening. If he had booked Moro for his foul from behind on Aguero in the build up to their goal perhaps he might not have been quite so enthusiastic to come through the back of De Bruyne. I am still steamed about that one as once again a bad tackle by an Everton player will put one of ours out of the game for several weeks :100:

I absolutely agree about the need for technology, because it would show the flaws from the first leg.

I think we all agree the ball was out. However I do not suppose that City will write to the League and say that the game should be replayed, this is because Everton did not write to the league and ask for the first leg to be replayed after an offside decision and a penalty claim turned down which would have turned the game round there.

As for leniency I thought Atkinson did Everton a favour in letting so many tackles go and Everton with 15 fouls and only 2 cards and then trying to play am much added on time sufficient to get them an equaliser.

Of course the Everton fans on Twitter are claiming it wasn't even a foul, despite their defender going through the back of KDB and sending him to the floor

Atkinson did them a massive favour with his lenient approach. The players all know they are permitted X fouls before they pick up a booking but that that line is flexible. As the game goes on the line moves and fouls that would be penalised only with a free kick in the first ten minutes get them a booking in the last ten as they and the referee knows that they probably won't try another one late in the game......

.....BUT the failure to book them has an impact on their play and they tend to get away with far more during the game and thus affecting the whole match. I am not convinced Mori wouldn't have fouled De Bruyne that late in the game even had he been booked for the foul on Aguero prior to their goal as I think he saw 'red' and probably would have kicked the sh*t out of whomever was in front of him without caring as they were desperate and wanted to leave a few marks on people in spite, but in general if they are on a yellow they stop flying into tackles and grabbing people. It had an effect on Besic in the league match.

At one point last evening Barry was holding onto Sterling's arm (again!) and generally obstructing him.....but not even a foul was awarded. Don Goodman in commentary said "well, technically, it is a yellow card but it's not that bad" or similar. Because he wasn't booked for a clear obstruction he remained free to do it later.....

Everton fans don't think that was a foul on De Bruyne? Laughable.

Apparently it's open season on Sterling. Players in opposing teams are allowed extra leniency when fouling him.

That wouldn't be the former Labour 'health minister' would it ?
The emerging evidence of an Establishment cover-up of the Stafford Hospital tragedy is throwing a harsh but well-deserved light on the statements made by Andy Burnham and Gordon Brown.
Burnham signed off Stafford hospital’s suitability for Foundation Trust Status. A berk who signed off as one of our finest a hospital which was busy killing people with near-Nazi efficiency. This institution is Stafford hospital.

History. That old chestnut. Relentlessly pointed to means nothing in business and this is now a full on business. Its all about tomorrow and where you are at today. These entitled scousers and particularly all the tarquins at Arsenal do my head in. Arsenal got booed off at HT last week.

Noticeable from very early in the piece the time wasting Everton (Robles in particular) were resorting to. Atkinson quite clearly indicated he was taking note.

Robles was hilarious when they were behind, hurrying up with his goal kicks, apart from one obvious exception.....

I was surprised when 5 minutes came up as stoppages, and was extended by the De Bruyne situation. I remember turning to my sister as the 90 came up and saying 3 minutes maximum.
It would have been highly ironic if Everton had fashioned something in stoppages, as they were the reason for most of it.
Of course, if we had've been behind, the 5 would've been reasonable

They were indeed wasting time even early in the first half which makes the irony of them trying to hurry up in the end quite amusing.

As we know Martin Atkinson is a past master at the flexibility of added time - allegedly adding on minutes for the celebration of Craig Bellamy's equaliser all those years ago at The Swamp.....only to then NOT add any additional minutes for the celebrations which followed Timpny Tim Owen's winner. Having indicated he was noting the time wasting and at the end of the game then find that those responsible may gain an advantage from this tactic (the opposite of what their original intention) then he should perhaps have applied this flexible approach in reverse and reduced the amount of added minutes to compensate for their gamesmanship.

Just a thought!

One thing I did like from Atkinson in regard time wasting was giving us the throw in when Stones took an age to take it. Much better policy than wasting more time by booking a player for wasting time.

I missed that! Did he reverse the decisions to give a throw to Everton or simply give one to City irrespective of which team played the ball out?

He originally gave Everton the throw, Stones took an age to throw it so he reversed the decision and gave City the throw in, never saw it happen before.
