'Hart was shamefully pushed out'
Everton 4-0 Man City

Henry Winter
Chief Football Writer for the Times on BBC Radio 5 Live

"It was a very bizarre position to alienate and push Joe Hart out. Everyone talks about his footwork but the main thing is the shot stopping. It's job number one.

The most important thing Hart could do was keep the ball out of the net.

Claudio Bravo is not the tallest. They don't really have one outstanding keeper at the moment. Shamefully, because of Guardiola, Hart was pushed out."

Ronald Koeman:

"You cannot plan a game like this. It is always difficult against City, they play great football but the second half was perfect in every aspect.

"We scored at the right time in the first half and then to score straight after half time made it very difficult for them.

"I think it is a big compliment to Everton today - the organisation defensively. It makes the final result and the way we played perfect.

"Pep Guardiola knows it is a project at Manchester City. Of course maybe they expected better results and a defeat like this is really strong but Pep has the experience to turn it around. I don't doubt it."

Pep Guardiola:

"We created enough chances in the first half to score. After what happened we were not able to score and they had one chance and scored. They scored straight after the second half and that is tough mentally for the players.

"The consequence of the game is an example of many that has happened this season. It is football. In football you sometimes don't need to do many things to score. They arrive once and score a goal. It is not today it is almost all the season and it is tough for the players to handle that situation.

"Of course we can do better. It is awful for my players. It is normal to live these kind of situations sometimes.

"I said to the players be positive because they have made fantastic things in this season but didn't always get what we deserve. I think all managers can say this, though."

I thought we had turned our season round, but today Everton wanted it more and they actually were a team helping each other and fighting for the ball, but not really sure what went wrong, but the 2nd goal was the killer, it's as though they have lost their way.

Bravo will be blamed, but his confidence is shot and each goal conceded according to the media is his fault and it must affect him.

Pellers took Joe out when the heat was on and I think Cabellero should step in for a few games

I couldn't agree with you more on that one Buzz - he needs to be taken out of the firing line or he will be crushed by the weight of the blame tht will be heaped upon his shoulders.

From reading the MDT it seems that perhaps he was t fault for only one of the three goals as described at the time.

Such a massive disappointment after last week

Some more stats that go a long way to underlining the enormity of yesterday's defeat.
The last time we shipped 4 goals or above in the league without scoring was October 2007 under Svennis. 6-0 at Chelsea.
We were smashed 8-1 at Boro the next May and there have been the odd 4-2s and 3s but nothing to the extent we just witnessed without mustering a reply.

it was a worryingly large deficit for such a squad. The owners cannot be happy at the current state of affairs no matter how much Ferran and Txiki are :022: with Pep

Oh, and WTF kind of problem does Clattenburg have with Sterling?

Last season he gave a penalty against the lad for handball against Spurs, yesterday denied him a stone wall penalty.

Raheem would be justified in thinking Clattenburg was being less than impartial when it came to him

Ever since the outcry when DeBruyne was awarded the pen against Swansea we don't get penalties anymore unless they're completely obvious.

That said, how Clattenburg missed that one I've no idea, surely he saw Sterling get the touch before Robles? Surely he also saw Robles steaming out of his goal? Even if there's no contact, which their clearly was, then Sterling has to take evasive action to avoid being clattered, that's a foul Mark.

And before any starts, I'm discussing an incident in the game, not blaming the ref for the result.

I know exactly what you mean although I am getting tired of these individual decisions which aren't being given correctly. He was looking right at it. Poor decision. Wonder if he will get remedial training. I still recall the one he failed to give when Anderson took out Micah Richards.......
