Another City record has been broken. 13 away wins in a league season.

12 more goals for the 100.

Chelsea won the title in 2004-5 with 85 points - a record number. City now have 84 with 18 points to play for.

Everton 1-3 Manchester City

Fred Eyre

Former Man City player on BBC Radio Manchester

City leveled off in the second half. They were just doing enough, and there was a bit more spirit from Everton after a dressing room mauling. Over 90 minutes, a good performance, scintillating over the first 45 minutes.

Leroy Sane talking to Sky Sports:

"It's always difficult after an international break because we didn’t have much chance to train together this week but we had a good game today."

"Liverpool is a difficult team to play against and they are very strong. We know what we have to do and it will be a good game."

Vincent Kompany speaking to BT Sport:

"We have done incredibly well so far.

"It’s steady but we have a big game midweek and then we have to deal with Manchester United on Saturday. We’ll take it game by game but we have done very well so far.

"It would mean the world to our fans.I have lived in Manchester long enough to know what it means.

"It will be lively and spicy but I don’t mind. Manchester United have seven days to prepare, but we need momentum so we need a good Champions League game."

Guardiola’s record as a coach at Barcelona, Bayern & City....

Not so dissimilar at all, so solid evidence of his coaching abilities and ammunition against any claims that he was handed all the answers on a plate at each club.

His win % at each club:-

City 71%
Bayern - 77%
Barca - 72.5%

Pep Guardiola speaking to BT Sport:

"We knew we must win all games. We did our job in the first half - it was so, so good.

"We controlled the game and it was a huge victory. It was the first time as a manager I was able to beat Everton.

"It was a long time we weren't together so you always think 'what could happen' but it was good.

"We were clinical especially in the first half. Everybody committed to win the game. Now it is one more game and we will be champions.

"The fans it is significant. It is special. it is important we win - no matter where. Of course the most important thing is these two games.

"We have to go to Anfield with good feelings. Now we have a few days to prepare for this game."

Andy Hunter for The Guardian...

Manchester City’s glorious procession towards the Premier League title can have the coronation it deserves. Victory number 27 was delivered in style and comfort at Everton to leave Pep Guardiola’s team one win away from their third championship in seven seasons. The Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium next Saturday could deliver a dream for the blue half of the city, the stuff of nightmares for the red.

Sam Allardyce speaking to MOTD:

"Manchester City are a top quality team, you have to admire a team that especially in the first half were too good for you. As much as the lads tried it was something we couldn't cope with.

"The real turning point was when we should've scored with Bolasie and gone 1-1 and they scored.

"It was very difficult when they scored, I thought Silva was offside for one of the goals but what can you do.

"We fought, battled, scored and tried to go until the very end. All their 11 are fantastic in that system and that's why they are so far ahead.

Imagine. The Stretfords will have NEVER gone into a derby against Manchester City with The Blues in such an ascendancy. City have NEVER gone into a derby with united in such an ascendancy. Our fans will not be nervous because we have 5 more games afterwards to secure the title. It is the rags who will go into this bricking it, without a shadow of doubt.

I think he needed to play Eric just so he could pick up a medal when they get handed out.,

All players need 5 appearances including Subs who play- so

Eric needs 2
Ben Mendy and Zinchenko need 1

I hope I have this wrong and that just being a sub sgould get you a medal

The only thing coming close to this was Law's back heal to send the rags down.

More from City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to MOTD:

"It’s so good, we are so happy after three weeks without a game, you never know how you react.

"You have to be aggressive, if you are not here and at Anfield you do not do well if you do not show up.

"It’s two years thinking and training that way, the way we want to play was also last season, no matter home or away we play that way.

"We have to focus on the Champions League, we have United in the middle but for the line-up we have to think about the Champions League."

More Stattery...

City are the 10th team to have beaten every other top flight club within the same season, and the first since Manchester United in 2010-11.

Guardiola has now beaten 21 of the 22 Premier League teams he has faced as a manager in the division, only failing to beat Middlesbrough in two attempts (D2).

This was the first time that Everton conceded 3+ goals in the first half of a Premier League game at Goodison Park since August 2009 against Arsenal.

Since the start of the 2015-16 campaign, Kevin De Bruyne has provided 42 assists in the Premier League, more than any other player in the Top 5 European leagues.

It is indeed the stuff of rag nightmares. So much for “Not in my lifetime”.

There is no hiding place for them.

I started to list all the reasons winning the title next week would be so sweet but it began to feel like the rant from the Norwegian commentator all those years ago when England were humbled under Graham Taylor........

So I will stick with the knowledge that as the days pass this week the cold ball of ice that has been forming in the pit of their stomachs throughout the season will give them serious indigestion by Saturday morning. Maureen especially will absolutely detest being in this position.

Outstanding

Interesting comment there from Pep about the side he will select for the derby.......

“but for the line-up we have to think about the Champions League”
