Euros Germany 2024

They've stopped kneeling. So I sort of want to pretend I can viably support them. I know I'm kidding myself and that really they're just the same bunch of cu nts, but....... I'm going to exercise a dose of double think and get the flags out. Well, maybe not, but I will support them in a half arsed way. I would like to see a tournament win, I guess.....

Watching now, back 4 is poor, we could have conceded 2 more, midfield looks lightweight out of possession. Put the suits away lads, its Italy in the quarters 😂

Utter utter shite with 10 mins to go, hardly laid a glove on Iceland. Who the fk are these players anyway? I don't recognise half of them.

Ive watched some dreadful England friendlies in my time.. but that one takes the biscuit
Could have lost 3-0, lad slipped when he had an open net from 8 yards and free header back post, decent save from Ramsarse. Apart from Palmers 1 on 1 we didn't create a clear chance despite all the negative possession.

And Grealish isn't good enough for that team? It was crying out for somebody to run at them but all they did was tippy-tappy around the box. The crossing was abysmal and the shooting was woeful, let's hope this 'new look' England can get it together PDQ because there was absolutely nothing there to hang our hats on.

Every one of England's rivals will be surprised and pleased that Grealish isn't in the squad. He is well known throughout Europe, at club and international level. As an English player, he's a bit alien, he stands out. Teams worry about him because he holds onto the ball and keeps you on the back foot. We know this first hand from coming up against him. As a fan, you're not comfortable when he's got the ball on the left because you know you've got your hands full to get the ball back, and he's unpredictable - you just know you're going to have some defending to do because he'll rarely lose the ball until he's in the penalty area / a decisive area.

I'd actually say his omission points to a fundamental lack of understanding of football, particularly in the attacking area, from the manager. It's quite incredible.

At least 2 of those attacking selections will be a complete waste of space.

Maguire's absence is the icing on the cake.

This should have been England's tournament, but we've found a way to waste yet another golden opportunity. The defence will be a liability, and the youthful, lightweight attack will hit a brick wall when it matters, despite all the quality - if recent friendlies are anything to go by.

There's more chance of Starmer sticking to a decision than there is of England winning a competition that ,apparently, we've been 'nailed on' for, for months.

Caught the last 15 minutes when they were really going for it   .Seen more intense sleep overs.

They'd be better going to Switzerland and playing at the Dignitas clinic- they'd speed up bed turnover times there:eek:

Not fare on some of the England players not being able to bring their foreign world class non English team mates who make them look half decent, Foden the biggest example.

Can't agree re Foden. He would survive, and prosper, in virtually any team in the world. He's scored some magnificent goals as a result of his own ability this season and filled the De Bruyne 'hole' well when he wasn't available.

The bigger question is will gormy Gareth be brave enough to play some (any) progressive, attacking football?
Think you've got your answer.

It's either a fundamental lack of understanding of football or an inability or unwillingness to stand up to his paymasters.

Harry Kane missed a gr8 chance as well as Palmers but yeah you're correct Iceland cudda/shudda scored 3.It was a very poor performance from England and i've said before i don't like the look of our defence especially at Left Back.UTB

Another Crystal Palace Englishman who actually has an English sounding surname, Tyrick Mitchell, should have been selected at left back. He's athletic and can defend. That's enough. That's more than what we have.

In attack, I'll predict that the following players will make no impact:

Gordon
Toney
Palmer

Bowen and Watkins are borderline.

The attacking player I most trusted to make an impact after Kane, Bellingham and Foden was Grealish. The rest are all unreliable and questionable in one way or another. You could even say Foden is unreliable for England.

That he left out Maddison as well as Grealish points further to a fundamental lack of understanding. They're the only two of their type for that area of the pitch, and no one in the squad is comparable. Any non moron selects at least one of them.

But I will credit Southgate with one thing - he hasn't selected Raheem Sterling for quite a while. I thought he was wedded to him. So that came as a shock, I must admit.

I will also say that he has generally got more right than wrong previously with selection issues etc and maybe 1 or 2 or 3 players in the squad will surprise us.
