Europe In Out Shake it all about

As AB will be looking for even closer ties with The EU and the likelihood is high of a 2nd referendum finally in Labour manefesto I give you this as to how the last referendum slip should have looked FB_IMG_1786604155465.jpg

The other option was the one the Tories, Rees-Bog (and Farridge????) spoke about - leave and a 2nd Ref to decide how lol

All about choice and taking back control eh!

What the fuck is it with 52%/48% 🙄 Mind you they still have a better deal than us with being in Schengen and the single market

Thought the same earlier lol

Not overly surprised on this one, more driven by defensive issues, rather than any real trade benefits other than reduced paperwork.

I think if you overlaid the locations of key smelting plants closed over the past few decades onto the voting map, you’d see a decent correlation with 'leave' voting.

55/34 is pretty strongly in favour of rejoining.

Do you think there are many people who think Brexit has been a success?
Whatever the percentage it's nowhere near that phoney survey that was previously posted.
With regards too your question Europe is moving rapidly to the right, chiefly because of uncontrolled immigration, same as in this country.
The Europe we left is slowly ceasing to be.

Just listening to LBC this morning, going on about rejoining the EU, apparently, according to all those phoning in and the presenter, it will fix everything we've suffered since we left. Last time I looked, there was a war in Ukraine and a war in Iran and even the people in Europe are facing the same issues as we are.
If we go back in though, those who go to Spain for a week or two a year might get through customs a bit quicker, so all is good. That seems to be the main bugbear of those who want to rejoin!

Personally, I haven't noticed anything different since we left, good or bad. Mainly because the politicians didn't really want to leave in the first place, so they have dragged their feet doing anything with it. 400+ MPs on all sides didn't want to leave, so it was never going to work, was it?

Yes, I'm worse off than I was 10 years ago, but I can't blame leaving the EU for that. Leaving fucking work and retiring on a pension that is less than half of what I was earning at work has made me worse off. Gas, electricity, and petrol prices have made me worse off, and that is nothing that being in the EU can solve. Unless it allows us to do sneaky deals on Russian gas like the Germans were doing whilst being leading lights in the EU.

I often look at the stuff in my fridge to see where it has come from: blueberries from Peru, strawberries from Staffordshire, etc and realise nothing comes from France or Germany; some things come from Spain, like oranges, but most of the stuff comes from GB or the rest of the world.
Most of our stuff comes from China via Amazon; very little arrives from the big players in the EU. This is my household. I can't speak for those who drink French wine and eat cheese from there; I'm a cheddar man.

Rejoining just means even more bungs to France and Germany to trade "freely" with them. I'm all for the common market but not the EU.
The common market was what the UK signed up for back before I was even old enough to vote; the EU is something nobody voted into. The United States of Europe will never work. It might in theory, but in practice the Germans will always be better off than the rest.

I agree, in a way. The jobs lost to Brexit aren't coming back. The economic stagnation caused by Brexit won't be undone by rejoining. The jobs at JLR that went to Chechia or wherever aren't coming back.

The fact remains that being out of the EU costs Britain 2-3% of GDP every year. Rejoining now won't bring back that lost prosperity but it will stop the bleeding and allow Britain a chance to get back on its feet.

And it's usually predicated on going back with the same deal, not a Scooby in hell of that happening so economic wise we'll still be down in comparison, but a damn sight better off than we are now.

Yes mate, this in an absolute nut shell.
It's what I signed up to back in 1970 whatever it was because it made sense.
We were lied to even back then by Ted Heath who later admitted that he wanted the UK tied in to a Federal Europe and that was his objective all along.
Fuckin politicians, I hate them
