EU strategy to destroy the Chequers ‘agreement’...

If the value of a currency against another is less one day than it was the previous day, it has devalued.
No, it's depreciation. Devaluation is an official lowering of the value of a country's currency within a fixed exchange-rate system, in which a monetary authority [the Treasury/Chancellor in the UK] formally sets a lower exchange rate of the national currency in relation to a foreign reference currency - the US Dollar perhaps - or currency basket.

Yes. You’re obsessed and very slow and illogical.

I am at a loss as to why Wayne even bothers to reason with you. You’re a lost cause who isn’t even open to sensible argument. Not a lot of what you say makes any sense.

It wouldn't to you, with your EU hugging obsession, I understand that.

Stick to the pedantry and EU subservience. You have a natural talent for that.

Cheers!

Did you mean devaluation then at 5.15pm yesterday?

Like many of the rest more concerned about more countries joining the EU but never about the benefits. Like many of the rest you can't identify a single benefit that will come as a result of Brexit. Yes, no contribution to pay but that's gone in shed loads with the devaluation of the Pound.

Or did you mean depreciation?

ECB to reboot QE to try and stimulate the Eurozone.
Germany have a 50 billion planned stimulus to try and stave off the impending recession.
Let's hope it works.
Germany falls and the whole Eurozone follows.

But will that stimulus cause devaluation of the euro, or merely depreciation?

WK is right on this, of course, but unimportantly so. A devaluation suggests a conscious act by a central bank BUT it's not hard-and-fast. For example, letting a currency depreciate as the Chinese did recently by not intervening to support it, can be described as a devaluation in effect or, less clearly, as an effective devaluation. Remainers often say that sterling has been effectively devalued. And, of course, context generally provides a very clear guide to what a chap actually means, whichever of the two words he uses.

As the pound devalues doesn't that make our exports cheaper, if the pound devalued by 40% wouldn't that offset Wayne's 40% tariff on our exports. :halo:
