England Win U20 World Cup!

1-0 nil up

Can't wait for the 'we have got some great young players coming through, futures looking good, golden generation ....blah... blah'.

Heard it all before.

The fact that we are playing mighty Venezuela in this final shows that u20 bears no relevance to how things will develop.

Well done to the youngsters. Wouldn't mind seeing Soteldo of Venezuela at villa park, really looked a player.

England's Under 20 side today took victory over Venezuela's youngsters to lift the World Cup trophy for 2017.

So I posted here and put the match recording, just watched it.

Brilliant game, lots of chances if they had won 3-1 4-1 it would have been fair.
The feel good factor was spoiled by the BBC, what ****** decided that the presentation of the trophy to the England skipper did not need to be aired.

YOU WANKERS...... What if the game had gone into extra time?

Yes, fair play to the young lads for the win despite my cynical post earlier.

I will maintain though that this means very little to the full side and it will be interesting to see how many of these players will go onto long premier league careers let alone into the full international side.

Yes I read your earlier post and watched the game, on and off. And I couldn't help wondering how many of these players we will ever hear from again, in terms of England. Hopefully, the lot of them. But we'll see.

I read elsewhere (forget where now) that Southgate has quite an interest in the U20 side from his time in charge of the U21s, so hopefully these kids will remain on his radar, at least as long as he's the England coach. Hopefully some joined-up, long-term thinking from the FA (if that isn't a contradiction in terms!) will see most of these guys coming through the ranks and become key members of the 2022 World Cup winning side

Continuity has to be the key. But recent history will tell us that the same favoured england players will get flogged to death and block others. Like the last so called golden generation got played and played despite tournament failure after failure. That and the foreign players that block english talent in the premier league i really doubt this success today will bear any fruit in the full international side.

Dominic Solanke who shows as a Chelsea player was outstanding, I thought they said Liverpool had signed him.

And sadly no Villa players anywhere near the U20 squad.

They have Col, but nothing becomes official until 1st July, so technically, he is still a Chelsea player.
