04/09/20 First match in the England v Australia T20 series 6pm tonight at Southampton

Update 1 : England batting. 25-0 off 3 overs

Update 2 : England 162-7 (innings closed) Malan 66

Update 3: After the Aussies had put on 98 for the first wicket, it looked like they were cruising to victory, but they underwent a batting collapse and lost momentum.
Some tight bowling by England in the latter stages restricted them to 160-6 (innings closed).
England scraped home by two runs!

That's what twenty/20 is all about isn't it - exciting until the end (sometimes!) I watched the full game and enjoyed it. Some of the catching from the Aussies was amazing and for England to stand tall at the end was great.

Mike - we've recently been watching a documentary on Australian cricket (think it was called The Test). Six parter - it was good. Didn't make me like Mr Smith any more though!

Yes, and live coverage on BBC 1. Finch and Maxwell did well in their short stints with Yorkshire too - good players.

Update 1 : Australia 157-7 (innings closed)

Update 2 : England reached 158-4 with an over to spare (Malan 42, Buttler 77 n.o.)
England won by six wickets and win the T20 series with another game still to play

11/09/20 - First ODI (50 overs) in the series just about to start, 1pm at Old Trafford.
Steve Smith not in the Aussie squad today (precaution after he was hit on the head in the nets yesterday). Bairstow, Root and Rashid are playing, Malan is being rested for this one.
Australia batting first.

Update 1 - Australia 294-9 (innings closed). The Aussies came back well after a shaky start.

Update 2 - England 275-9 (innings closed). Despite great inninngs from Bairstow (84) and Billings (118) , there was not much support from the other England batsmen.

Australia won by 19 runs.

13/09/20 Second ODI today scheduled for 1 pm start at Old Trafford

England batting first. Steve Smith has been left out of the Aussie team for today.

Update 1 - England struggling at 148-7 after 40 overs. Commentators are saying that it is a difficullt pitch to bat on though.

Update 2 - England 231-9 innings closed. Useful runs from a ninth wicket stand involving Tom Curran (37) and Rashid (35 n.o.)
Soon see if commentators were right about the pitch...

Update 3 - The Aussies made a strong start, but once Finch (71) was out, they started to collapse. Archer and Woakes bowled well , and then the Curran lads put the brake on the batsmen in the later stages of the Aussie innings. Rashid came back to take the last wicket as the Aussies were all out for 207.

See-saw game which England won by 24 runs. 1-1 in the series now , with one game to to play.

Australia came back from 73-5, with centuries from Carey and Maxwell, to win by three wickets with two deliveries to spare . Australia needed 10 runs off the last over, but putting Rashid on to bowl it turned out to be the wrong decision. England also had missed some chances earlier and had a wicket ruled out because of a no-ball. Australia finished on 305-7. Final game in a close series which Australia won 2-1
