England Cricket

Could be the first time that England have lost by at least 11 wickets.

Rohit had 4 innings in the last test and 2 in the first innings of this match so they would have had to get him out twice at least in the last innings.

One thing for certain...on a ‘proper’ pitch no way does Joe Root get 5 for 8 in 6 overs!

Exactly

Basically, we turned up, and played well in the first test and won a fairly even contest in five days.

The Indians decided, nah, we want to win, prepared two raging turners, on the basis that their spinners are a LOT better than ours, and won two tests easily.

It just sucks tbh. We could do this in our home tests, so could the Aussies in particular, and you'd just never get away test series wins for the rest of time.

When they inevitably beat us in the third test, and get their spot at the world test final at lords, I'd love it if they left it like a bowling green...

They need to play 2 spinners only with all the rest being batters. Mind you to stand a chance we would need to have Broad and Anderson as the Umpires, a neutral 3rd Unpire and only one stump.

Not a scooby what they were thinking with Archer, and the team in general.

Did they really think that India would do anything other than prepare another raging bunsen??

8 is also FAR too high for archer to bat, the way he's played in tests so far he should be 10 or 11.

What's damning for the pitch, is that given how it turned out, the best team for us to have picked would have included TWO specialist bowlers.

Anderson to hold it up at one end, and Jack Leach. You could have gotten away with Stokes and Root at the other ends, and done just as well as we did with the team we picked.

So our perfect team after the fact would have been the below (assuming those rotated out were still unavailable) which is not exactly an even contest between bat and ball...

Sibley
Burns
Crawley
Root
Stokes
Pope
Lawrence
Foakes
Woakes (playing as a bat because CW is a legit better batsman than that idiot Bairstow)
Leach
Anderson

Looking forward to playing them on bowling greens this summer

Even contest? We won by 227 runs.

What was remarkable was that before the second test, we were on a run of successive away test wins - 4 or 5, I think?

Considering the home team will always prepare a track to suit their bowlers that is a pretty good achievement.

Even though India are often rated as the number 1 test team, they do not get much joy in England, either. In fact, they are made to look pretty ordinary when it takes until the fourth day for the wicket to break up.

Even as in a fair contest. Ifs and buts etc, but if India get Root out early then he doesn't play the match winning innings, and it's a very different outcome.

Admittedly batting second and winning the first test would have been very difficult, but it was a fair contest between bat and ball, rather than the crap shoot of the last test in particular.

India aren't rated the number one test team btw, that's NZ, but so long as India don't lose the fourth test they go top.

We'll beat them in England I'd have thought. We've won three series in a row against them at home, with a aggregate score of 11-2...

It's been a decent wicket - score runs if you show application and some turn and bounce for the spinners, but not unplayable. Some of the shots have been very poor
