After an emotional farewell to our old ground, and a fantastic result which sees us cement our highest finish in my lifetime, we are very close to the end of this year's edition of the Premier League.

Half of the teams only have one game left, and the other half of the teams will be playing any games in hand this week, ahead of Sunday's Final Day special. In what has been an interesting season, there is unfortunately very little left to play for on the final day. Chelsea are already champions, we know which 3 teams are dropping down to the Championship, and realistically the only thing left to play for is 3rd and 4th place (and even then, all Liverpool have to do is beat an already relegated Middlesbrough to secure a top 4 finish, and City need 3 points from 2 games against Watford and WBA, neither of which have anything left to play for, to do the same).

ars*nal will surely have their sights set on the FA Cup final, and Man U will be focused on the Europa League final. Which begs the question: how do we approach the last 2 games?

Normally, teams are expected to play strong teams until the end of the season, as there is usually still lots to play for on the last day. Given how this season is unfolding, and the fact that we'll be playing 2 teams (in Leicester and Hull) who have nothing left to play for, is there any point in playing strong teams?

From a team perspective, there are many good reasons to rotate extensively for the last 2 games. It would not only give lesser-used players a chance to start a Premier League game, hopefully improving their morale, it would also give MP an opportunity to see extended minutes from bench players in a game situation. I personally think that players like N'Koudou, which we still know little about, would benefit greatly from starting the last 2 games.

Finally, rotating the team now could possibly avoid late-season injuries to our star players, avoiding the risk of playing them in meaningless games when legs are tired. This being said, rotating extensively could have downsides too. Are we disrespecting the opponents by playing weakened teams against them? Are we disrespecting fans who have paid lots of money to see their favourite players on the pitch?

There is also the question of individual accolades. I'm sure Harry Kane still has his sights set on the Golden Boot. Would not playing him now, and/or playing a weakened team around him (with players less likely to create good chances for him) affect him? I personally think that some rotation is needed for the last 2 games, although not extensive rotation - max 3/4 changes to our best 11. I'd like to see Vorm, Wimmer, Sissoko, N'Koudou and Janssen start at least one of the 2 games left.

What are your thoughts?

Rose is close to being fit so we may see him as a sub coming on. Dembele should not play . The keeper doesn't really matter much. I would expect at least one of our mainstay CBs to play as changing both is asking for trouble. I want Sissoko to play . Kane and Alli may want to to improve goal tallies. GKN should probably play.

I think it depends whether we play 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-3. If we switch to 3 at the back then I would play CCV with Toby and Jan. I don't think Dier has excelled at the back this season so would be interesting to see whether CCV could slot in on the right.

If we stayed with 4-2-3-1 then I'd be tempted to play N'koudou in place of Son. I'd also recall Dembele.

I think the way to approach these 2 games is to start with a strong line-up and make early subs. Perhaps that's where someone like Edwards can get some game time.

The fact we are so good and have nothing to show for it, disappointment for me. Shame as I'm certain we were good enough to win 1 of League Cup, FA Cup or Europa.

Mr Levy, Keep our core players/ stars, get rid of the dross (we all know who) , purchase 2 top drawer attacking players who can unlock the 'park the bus defenses' and we will push on...we do not have a Hazard, a Willian a Silva type player...

Chelsea have Hazard AND Willian, (happy to sit on the bench). Difficult for Spurs to compete with that.

So if Conte had Hazard, Pedro, Willian, Eriksen and Alli for 2 places behind a central striker who would he choose? Hazard for me is a given but the other player would be one of the 2 two Spurs players. That's how good they are.

I'm all for having more great players at Spurs to increase the depth, but let's not belittle the ones we have as they are right up there with the best in the league. They are also getting better each season.

Its not belittling our players......we have a weak bench and so we must strengthen it...our players all want to win trophies and the only way is to intrduce top notch competition for places.
Anyone can see that we are weak on additional creative attcking options in my opinion.
Just look at our bench. Who is there on it that can change the outcomes of matches not going in our favour...no one!!!!.
The danger is that we depend on our 1st team regulars and not the squad.. and currently hope for no serious injuries. We won't push on unless we sort this piece out.

Agree on the bench strength but the statement was "we do not have a Hazard, a Willian a Silva type player". That's a bit harsh on Eriksen who has outperformed 2 out of the 3 this season. My opinion of course.

We've ended the season a hell of a lot better than we did last year. Wanyama has turned out to be one of the signings of the season but it is a shame Sissoko appears to have been a complete waste of money. At least Janssen and GKN are still young and next season I have faith in them upping their games. We've also had another emergence of a quality young player in Winks who we definitely missed after his injury. Son should also be officially considered a successful buy after this season.

Poch is doing wonderful things.

Unless we improve the squad we won't win anything next year either

Son has improved from a poor first season to progress in his second, he can be officially considered a successful buy if he can consolidate & be better in his third. Not being such a wimp in physical challenges will further endear him to me.. :17:

Getting Winks , Rose and Lamela back will improve our depth in 3 areas of the pitch. I would hope KWP and Edwards emerge next season. Both highly thought of. Couple of promising kids up front too in Sterling and Harrison starting to make waves.

We know youth is our policy . I will keep my signings expectations fairly low.

We can't complain with finishing 2nd. The chavs were just to strong this season. Shame we weren't this strong last season, reckon we would have won the league if we were.

In the last 2 games it's about playing the kids and fringe players.

I would like to see these players play the next 2 games...

Lopez, KWP, CCV, Wimmer, Davies, Dier Sissoko, N'kou, Edwards, Alli or Eriksen, Janssen.

For me it's now pointless playing our best players. Lets see what our back up players and kids can do against good teams.
