Elena Baltacha - RIP

Thought I'd start a thread for this sad news. She only retired in November and was one of the few shining lights in British womens tennis for a decade.

30 is far too young to go and it shows how quickly cancer can take lives, having only been diagnosed in January.

Very saddened at hearing the news this morning... dad used to be footballer .... very tragic... deepest condolences to the family and friend - only got married two weeks or so before diagnosed ... Tragic in all manners and form... Elena Baltacha - RIP

I was properly shocked when I heard. Didn't realise her condition had gone down hill so much, so quickly. Very sad.

Very sad, must admit I didn't even realise she had been diagnosed.

I heard about it in Feb I think, but didn't think all that much of it as I assumed it was early stage and easily treatable so it came as a quite a shock to me too. I

Very Sad! Unfortunately the bastard that is cancer does not exclude famous personalities. One day we will see this awful thing destroyed.

Agree Welshtel - but so many different ones in the family!!!
