Egan to Sheffield Utd

Not wanting to be pedantic here, but purely out of curiosity, is there a missing comma in there, or do they really offer you a pint glass of house wine?

I suppose you think you’re sophisticated drinking wine out of your tiny, poncy, European-sized ‘wine’ glasses?

Putting a bit of balance here. I quite enjoy the watch wine and dine package.

Ive always sat in the upper stand, despite having season tickets. They do a really decent roast beef with plenty of 2nds if you want them. Every time with a desert as well. Your own bar with no wait too and a good view of the pitch. Only improvement for me would be letting you in the piano bar for half time. At kick off they essentially wash their hands of you. Nothing worse than the crappy medway stand area to get a beer at half time. Its a shit hole would prefer to go in the factory but obviously from the medway stand you can't.

But all in all we enjoy it.
For those who regularly sit in the Medway stand I can see how the match and meal and package could be enjoyed. Frankly for the rest of us it is more trouble than it is worth. In my opinion. If your company is buying drinks again great .Frankly it is not for individuals or small groups who want to watch the whole match who have a season ticket in the Rainham end or Gordon Road stand .

I did it last season up at Blackpool vs Fleetwood. For £35 you get a nice seat in the middle block behind the tunnel and dugouts, and a meal in a suite - hot pot with the trimmings. The suite holds around 50-80 people and has a bar, and you can come back at half time. After the game you’re invited up to the director’s suite to watch the Man of the Match ceremony and drink up there.

I enjoyed it, it made for a nice treat. I’m tempted to see other clubs’ offerings, once or twice a season, groundhopping the prawn sandwich way.

I saw an advert for the MK Dons one shortly before/afterwards and at the time thought it was largely the same, including the price. Would £35 be the special offer including the ticket, rather than the price for season ticket holders only? Surely normally the price would be £50?

i did the spurs hospitality package when we had them in the cup season before last as only way i could get tickets. It wasn't cheap for was done really well. its was full as well which surprised me as they were only playing us.

Wine and dine at a football match? Nah not for me if I want to go for a nice meal I'll go to a nice restaurant with my girlfriend I would never think of mixing the two & it's a lot of money too. I much prefer watching the match with your everyday normal folk anyway more of a laugh and atmosphere.

Each to their own though.
Atmosphere? At gills? Doubt it.

Youre not missing much these days by sitting in the medway upper than the RE, or having a pre match pint in the piano bar rather than the factory.

To be fair though you're complaining about lack of atmosphere at Gills games but things like wine and dine are part of the reason football is dead for noise these days.

Sometimes I sit in the Rainham End and there is still a core that stand and get behind the boys. Most of the time at home games I'll sit Gordon Road and believe it or not the atmosphere is not as bad as you might think, the supporters are passionate there. The ref constantly gets digged out and in the middle section v Rotherham the lino was getting abused so often I began to feel sorry for the bloke haha...not to mention Taylor of Rotherham getting stick every time he dived.

I still find going home games a right laugh, I take your point AK that atmosphere is not what it was but I don't feel you sitting in some poncy box eating lobsters and drinking prosecco is going to help the atmosphere either.

UTG

Lol it aint exactly lobsters and prosecco at the gills mate but I understand your point. For the record, my STs are in the top/middle of the RE and I get involved in all of he singing and atmosphere.

The wwd is a couple of games a season and good fun for a change.

I thought id miss the atmosphere more to be honest but I realised there is very little any way whenever I've tried it out.

Sky Sports News just said he went for £6m...has £4m been confirmed somewhere? Could be a Sky error, wouldn’t be the first time, but the extra £400k would be nice!

It’s a record fee so at least £4M. It would be unusual for there not to be add-ones for appearances, promotion, sell-on etc so min £4M rising to £6M max + sell on isn’t unrealistic.

And he's only 25; so, anything is possible

The top row of the Medway lower tier is a great view. You still get to hear the players shout and grunt , whilst being elevated enough to get a proper perspective of the game. Only having the sun in your eyes could be moaned about.
As for attendances , most of North Kent would pledge allegiance to a London club.

COYG ?

To be fair, the boxes (service, food, drink, views and facilities) at GFC are really very good and compare favourably to those in higher divisions. As Valencia points out, the only downside is the sun in your eyes. For me, the best place to actually see the game is in the top middle of the GRS. If we get the 400K that Nathan alludes to, i`d like the GRS to have better audio equipment and the stand re-named the John Egan Stand :decks:
