Paranoid by name but not by nature judging by this sensible post.I think Eaves was starting to look pretty knackered, which meant Lovell had to using him sparingly in the last part of the season. He didn't get a lot of respite in the first 3/4 of the season and his role in the side is pretty physically demanding, plus he clearly doesn't have the stamina of, say, Byrne (who's work rate this season as been pretty extraordinary).
I wonder if Eaves will be offered an extended deal.
Well done Tom,pleased for you, can’t knock the effort the guy puts in,hopefully all the travelling supporters will give him shit next season, evidently the reason he was up for it yesterday.
In the Southend game it wasn't just the away fans he was silencing. We hadn't scored in the first three-and-a-half games and a lot (myself included) were grumbling about what looked like a bit of a useless lump up front. Remember the "calm down" celebration when he got the first one?I’ve only heard the ‘shit Andy Carroll’ song twice this season and both times he’s scored a hat trick. Who wants to contribute a fiver for a banner at the back of the Rainham End?
For Eaves to start so much of the last 3rd of the campaign on the bench something must have happened not for him to start.
Which most likely means Wilkinson is not up to itPost match interview on Radio Kent, Lovell said the downturn in performances co-incided with Eaves and Parker losing their form on the pitch. The non-conspiracy angle is that Lovell didn't think his recent performances justified him starting and that a short spell on the bench might kickstart him again.
Don't forget Parker who's added a fewReally pleased for Tom Eaves. Given the pre-match (table) situation, the probability of a goal fest was very high and it was both fitting and rewarding that big Tom managed to bag hat trick. Eaves has worked hard this season and even when not scoring put more of a shift in than most.
