Eardley

Not his best game tonight albeit on the wrong side. I like to think he's going to stick about, the bits about his fitness improving and the emphasis on sports science etc. being good for him were encouraging.

If he gets a big offer from L1 fair enough, but fingers crossed he stays.

I thought he was our best player tonight by a million miles.

I have felt all along that he has been waiting to see whether we are promoted or not. I reckon he will sign for a club in League One, and you can't argue with that - he is easily good enough, and at 29 he needs the best pay day he can get.

Budget is four times bigger in league one. He has worked his socks off to rebuild his reputation... and has been a pleasure to watch

Big big blow to not have Habergham fit for the playoffs. We effectively lost both our first choice full-backs as Eardley at left back is at best 70% of what he gives us on the right.

I’m hopeful he’ll stay, but you never know in football. He could well be this season’s Terry Hawkridge and get an offer too good to turn down.

I've said in another post that full backs for me are key. I would go so far as to say that after a quality striker it is the next most important position for us to get right. If we don't then we could end up with the limitations of 4-3-3 with the likes of Green stuck out in the channel. Four quality full backs required over a season and I just hope Eardley is one of them.

Best player tonight by a million miles seems a stretch. He was rash at least three times, going through the back of their forward twice in the first half and once aerially in the second. Bit unusual for him. He was also caught out really badly in behind in the first half.

Don't get me wrong, fantastic player and he put a couple of good set pieces in but not sure how that conclusion can possibly be reached with an objective view of the game today that isn't influenced by the fact he has been brilliant all season.

I agree. I love a good defence and full-backs also contribute to a decent attack.

The squad definitely needs some work.

He could have got sent off

I hope the offer we make him is competitive and fair.

If he gets better then it’s not meant to be.

Watch him go to the posh now

Agreed, don't think he was at his best tonight.

I have a feeling he will go elsewhere in the summer, sadly. Contract negotiations seem to have gone on for far too long for there to be a positive outcome.

Still feel that what we have given him bringing him back to fitness and raising his self belief will count for something. Gut feeling says he signs #antiJefftakeonthings

Would like to think he would sign a new deal but it's not just a question of football with him. If a team closer to his home which I believe is in Blackpool offer competitive terms it may be too good for him to turn down.

If it's not to be and he leaves I thank him for his contribution this term

Think the guy lives in Preston, thought his personal terms had been agreed, and 'all' that remained to be sorted was a re location package. Hope it can be sorted.

Think it could be Blackpool and yes think also the stickinh point is him wanting to move hiw family to Lincoln.
If we can make that possible for him, we might just get him for the remainder of his career.

It also partly depends on whether he shares Danny's 'ambition in the journey' mantra. There's little doubt anyone coming here can look at promotion / win clauses with some optimism.
