Keanan Bennetts has passed a medical at Borussia Mochengladbach and is on the verge of completing a move from Tottenham, Football Insider can reveal.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Tuesday that the left-winger, 19, is in advanced talks to join the side that finished ninth in this season’s Bundesliga.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Bennetts has said goodbye to his former teammates and friends at Tottenham’s Enfield training ground after clearing his locker on Tuesday and told them he is quitting the club.

He will now make the move to Germany, even though the transfer window in the country does not open until 1 July, six weeks later than the Premier League’s 17 May date.

Tottenham’s stance is that they are ‘comfortable with the departure of Bennetts, but that does not tie in with the excellent season he has had for the Under-23s and the fact he signed a new contract last December to replace his existing deal, which was due to expire this summer.

The left footer, who can also fill in at left-back, has had an outstanding 2017-18 campaign for the club’s development side, scoring nine goals and supplying eight assists in 32 games in all competitions for Spurs to catch the eye of Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine has mentioned to colleagues that Bennetts is a player who has impressed him, while academy chief John McDermott has suggested he could be a first-team regular in the future.

However, Monchengladbach have moved in to offer Bennetts a quicker pathway to first-team football and a deal could now be finalised as early as today (Thursday).
