Draper new deal

Well done to him.

He went through a phase of frustrating the hell out of me, and the people around me, with his constant fouling.

However, he has improved that part of his game and I think, given a run of games, he could be a bit of a surprise package this season.

Good to see him tied up to a long term contract. I am guessing that this might be with a view to selling him for mucho peso should he make a favourable impression in the Championship over the next couple of seasons.
 
Good news. I thought he improved last year a huge amount. Cut out the naive fouls and just before his injury when the ball was played up to him had a minimum of two players on him and he was successful in holding up the ball a lot of the time. It will be really interesting to see how he does this year.
 
I hope he can step up I haven't seen a lot of him but there's a good player in there does seem to look for a foul a lot ?
Just needs consistency I guess but good luck to him
 
Good news, I personally think he's better as our No9 than Street, even if RS did a valiant job once Freddie got injured. With Jack going, I'd like to see us start with Freddie up top, then Reeco, Street and House behind him (if we are playing last season's favoured 4-2-3-1), at least until we get new signings through the door.
 
Apparently to fight off interest from championship teams, doesn’t mean they don’t match the potential new release clause and still buy him

If another club comes in with an offer which "meets our valuation" and is acceptable to Freddie, that's the way this club - and most others- work, but in the early days of a 4 year deal that valuation becomes significantly higher.

It also gives Freddie a Championship level package, which can certainly be improved by most other Championship clubs but the combination of those factors makes his future at the Imps more secure.
 
Do we see Freddie establishing himself this season though, especially if we land the two new target men players that are strongly rumoured to be incoming.

Freddie has to play ever week to show his best form. Otherwise his body shape means he loses match sharpness.

I hope I’m wrong but I can only see him being a useful bench player this season.
 
New contracts may simply be for incorporating Championship terms: would Draper's original contract have included promotion clauses, for instance?

…and long term protection of our asset, putting us in the best possible position to keep the player or negotiate the best possible value.
Before his injury he put in some excellent displays last season.
