A new design for economy class airline seating is drawing criticism for being totally, objectively horrible.

The designs by Airbus, drawn up for a patent application, are reminiscent of bicycle seats.

The idea is almost barbaric:

That is shocking, i would not travel like that if it was just cheaper than current methods no way,

At one point Ryanair were thinking of charging people to use the toilet and even considered the possibility of standing room only for short-haul flights, like on a bus. Incredible.

I have felw with Ryanair before and it wasn't too bad tbh, but the checkout bits and staff am pretty clueless i found, the que's are not organised just a free for all, felt sorry for the poor buggers telling me they had paid for a que jump ticket and was with me near the back pushed back and the staff didn't bother.

These seats will never be used as no one will fly with operators using the.

I fly withRyanair a fair bit and getwhat I exoect, a flying bus service......but that's what I pay for so I'll not complain. The last time I flew we used BA, a lovely experience and under the circumstances was the correct choice. Ryanaire is brilliant for weekend breaks and the like but not so great when a family is travelling with luguage.

Those were publicity stunts to bury other bad news. It looks like Airbus have hired their PR director.

Publicity stunts are designed to create positive spin, putting the company in a good light. Charging people to use the toilet? Standing room only? They must have been using Villa's PR department.

If they want to lose customers then they should go ahead with it. People have consumer choice nowadays and they don't need to put up with shit service from anyone.

Apart from public transport, any government services, telecommunications, estate agents and utility companies, eh?
