Doncaster ( Away )

Vital 1st Team Regular
Looking forward to the carnival atmosphere as the Latics fans takeover Doncaster for the day.
Bring it on.
0-3

Will be there myself on Sat evening, looking forward to it. Hopefully will finish season in style with a good win. I am confident that we will, the full week rest will benefit us and it will be different to last Sat and B Rovers away.

Stongest side possible out. Hopefully come 75th minute we are 2/3 goals up so we can bring on Perks as a sub to say farewell to a player who has served us well.

Looking forward to the game and a day of celebrating!

This has a Wigan thumping written all over it but that is makes me quite nervous about it. Football is a funny game and thas the habit of throwing up upsets when on paper the result seems almost certain.

Bristol had absolutely nothing to play for and turned in a performance that I'd be suprised they matched all season and it wouldn't be out of the question for Doncaster to do the same and raise their game motivated to be the party poopers.

We've also looked like a very tired team in the last few games, hopefully the week between games will be a big help, but there is every possibility the physical and mental fatigue from playing something like 8 games in the past month could need longer than a week of recovery. We may turn up at Doncaster and turn in another dour first half performance like we did in our previous 2 games and conceed a goal before we get our act together.

Thankfully Doncaster have also played 8 games in the past month including 1 of them this past midweek so hopefully we're playing the only team that is just as worn out as us.

I hope it's a walk over and we rack up an impressive scoreline reminisant of Cooks Popmey demolish Cheltenham 6-1 in last seasons final day. But I've been watching Wigan long enough to know that regardless of what manager or players we have that we have a habit for the dramatic - in both good and bad ways and are no stranger from doing things the hard way. So I'm not expecting Doncaster to be plain sailing as I know what we are like!

Get an early goal and we’ll cruise it. Otherwise it’s going to be a very nervous watch. Think we’ll definitely line up more defensively with Massey in for Coco. Powell absolutely has to start.

My thoughts to KDW.... on paper looks a bookies banker but we don't always follow the script....think if its 0-0 for 1st 30 mins then it'll start getting to the crowd which in turn will be felt on the pitch......hopefully an early goal for both us & Oxford to settle those nerves!!!!
If we do get an early goal then it could be a fairly decent score but as you say Doncaster won't have read the script & will be wanting to spoil our party.

Expect a nervous nail biting game.
We've got a terrible record against Donny and i said earlier in the season i hope we don't need anything from the last game.
Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster :eek!::eek!::eek!:

I'm not expecting too dramatic a day to be honest.
Doncaster have only won 7 games at home.
Their form currently is very poor.
They have only scored 52 goals in total, no one with less than 55 have beaten us this season. Isn't Marquis one of the worst strikers you've ever seen?
Only once this season have we conceded a goal in three consecutive league matches.
30 year records usually get broken once the media mention them.
And Doncasters shirts are truly horrendous.

I don't expect Doncaster to score. I'm pretty sure we will.

Champions!! Thoroughly deserved!!

Well done lads and all the travelling support. Brilliant and really fitting that Will Grigg should get the winning goal. I'm over the moon!!!!!

Was a rather subdued 1st half with just 1/2 shots on target. 2nd half upped the tempo and was by far the better team.vwhen Will scored that goal it was pandemonium...pulled off his shirt & grabbed a flair off one of the tic supporter...#legend

Professional effort today. Were never really in danger of conceding all match. Grigg could've done better with some his earlier chances but the fourth (not third) was the charm today. I thought Massey had a good outing. Burn was a rock in defense like always. Byrne MOTM.

A pity some supporters spoiled the celebrations somewhat by running on the pitch and throwing flares....why do they do it when asked not to? It spoiled it a bit for me.

Credit to the majority of fans who shamed the knobs to get off the pitch.
Griggs goal celebration, never seen such emotion interacting with the fans.
Max Power hoisting the flare aloft. Great scenes just that a very few dont know where to draw a line.

Eventful journey there, detoured via the snake pass, but worth it in the end.

That away end was absolutely rocking today, very loud indeed. Great scenes when we scored, Grigg in the crowd and Power holding a flare was quite something. Pity about the clowns on the pitch but still it was a cracking away day. Worthy Champions.

Great that we won title and got trophy. Lads deserved it for a great season.

But jesus, we've some really ignorant and nasty fans. We were sat on front row and straight away had people blatantly standing at boards in front of us, blocking our view. I moved a few but gave up. Told the kids to go and stand at front themselves so that they could see. Spent rest of game trying to protect them from getting crushed. When we scored, it was nuts. But for my dad and I, the two young uns would've been crushed against boards. We had several idiots bang into our backs... Kids were scared. We both ended up telling a few people to eff off. Just a disgrace. The flares and all that crap... And grown men in their 40s acting like kids... grow up ffs!

Last away game we go. Kids have said they don't want to go again. Well done.

Great crowd. Great atmosphere. Can't help thinking that Fleetwood was better though.

Vat, I can empathise with what you're saying, but why didn't you move higher up. Plenty of empty seats ........courtesy of those stood at the front on the boards !

Well done Messrs Cook, Sharpe, , Jackson, and of course th' owd mon himsel' .......Whelan.
