Doncaster at home

First half was a grind but second half totally controlled the game. Not sure what some of you are expecting, Even in first half Evans put a shift in, always available for the ball, received ball from every single throw in, showed great vision and composure under pressure. Naismith had to start at the back given Fox's disappearance and for me Sheridan / Richardson got tactics spot on, albeit we rode our luck at times in first half. Merrie and Perry still raw but both show great potential and are improving every game.

Great result today, hope the players don't like read this board as some of the comments are embarrassing and ridiculous, especially about the first half! We have got young kids, free agents and loanees yet have won our last two! We are still in administration for god's sake! What happened to the comments that we would just be glad to have a team to follow!! Some on here need to have a look at themselves!!

Bit of an over reaction there.

Did you think we played well in the first half?

I bet Sheridan said much worse to them at half time than anyone said on here.

We was bad first half and that's a fact, it's all down to how well Doncaster are drilled under Moore, one of the best managers in this league, we made some mistakes and looked clumsy, it was never gonna be easy, that is how it is, Sheridan would of said the same if not worse, that is who he is, we was much better in the second half and looked revived, composed and one the game. A real good win that did not need pure outplay and ability, but real courage and desire to grind a result. It's extremely promising, especially the young players. We will only grow. Proud performance.

No we didn't play well first half but the attacks on certain players was uncalled for! But if it makes you feel better then do crry on

Disjointed first half with too many wayward passes and losing the ball to easily.
Second half much more cohesive, Merrie, Naismith and Evans the better players, Massey still way off the pace but hopefully only needs game time, Otabor had a poor game.
More or less controlled the second half esp after we scored
A very positive result given the circumstances against a team with two wins and a draw scoring 8 v 3 goals from their first 3 games.
Well done to the coaching staff who seem to have influenced the second half performance with much higher pressing.

Edit: Having said that about Otabor, he did provide a pinpoint cross for the goal so that makes up for his otherwise off-par performance.
All did well considering the conditions, which was not really apparent on the TV but it was absolutely throwing it down for the whole 90 odd minutes

So basically you agree with people who said first half was poor but don't like people saying it out loud?

Feel better about what? Is saying someone isn't playing well now an attack? Think you're being a bit sensitive tbh.

We give credit when it's due in the second half and in the first half when it's poor we say it. That's football.

My attack on Massey was totally justified, he was hopeless from start to finish. Hopefully it is a fitness thing and he will improve.
Evans did improve in the 2nd half and is a far better player than we have seen so far this season.

Nothing wrong with saying we are playing poorly,if it is said in context with our situation!Personal attacks totally unfair! Also notice some of these personal attacks have mysteriously disappeared!!

Think the first-half criticism is a little harsh. Doncaster are a well-drilled team and promotion contenders in this division, with an excellent manager at this level. They were unbeaten in the league and had just flattened Charlton and Bristol Rovers.

The fact we weathered the storm and then fought back to win is fantastic - especially so with a winger and a debutant who’d only played one game of pro football before paired at CB.

Cut Massey some slack, he’s been out for months so you can’t expect him to be at full throttle yet - at least give him a handful of games to get up to speed again. Probably wouldn’t have started if their were other options, but the only other wide player is Gardner who isn’t fully fit either according to Sheridan.

Or they turned it around and got praised for it.

Got my pass and watched game. Still lacking 1 or 2 players but overall 6pts after 4 games is decent and could maybe have been more. Merrie and Perry look good with Evans further ahead. Maybe another centre mid needed though if we can get someone better than what we have.

Wide players were OK but need a bit more quality out there. Maybe Calmac if we can do a deal would be good to have for later stages in games

Very happy to hear that John Sheridan and the coaching staff don’t share the same view as some of the snowflakes on here determined to treat the players like babies. A well deserved bollocking at half time leads to a fired up second half performance and victory. Well done gaffer! Good three points that against a side who will finish in the top half. No one to fear in this shit league. Takeover, some more bodies in and we’ll be fine.

Moore one of best managers in league? What's that based on?

Sheridan:
“We were probably fortunate to go in level at the break because we didn’t really get going and we were a bit sloppy in the way we started the game.

I felt we should have got up the pitch a bit further and got in and around people but what we asked of them at half-time they have gone and done in the second-half and I thought we were magnificent in the second-half; we created problems, got in and around them and played some excellent football ourselves, scoring a great goal to get the three points.

There were some things said at half-time between the players and the staff and that is all part and parcel of it; sometimes when you’re not playing well you have to get a grip of each other and say a few things sometimes that people don’t want to hear. [However], the players and staff, we’re all in it together and it is a good mix – the players are responding to what we want from them and full credit to them for the second-half because they performed really, really well against a really good side who are full of confidence and scoring goals.”

Well done to Sheridan for putting a rocket up them at half time, clearly had the desired affect.
