Do you trust the media?

in general no. some are worse than others.

but this comes down to not media in general but who owns the media outlet in question, and what interests they want to protect.

basically money talks and the world in run for the 1%.

A question I would like to ask is : do you believe there any media outlets that are completely non-biased and earnest in their reporting?

Hard to find these days. The Economist, IMO has deteriorated significantly from its more objective beginnings.

No. Even if the story is right, different outlets have a completely different outlook on it. Everyone of them has an angle(beyond simply sales) they are pushing

Some individuals in the media are highly credible and that's reflected in their pieces/commentary, at the other end, it's as some here have already described it.

I don't in general.

However, there are a lot of opinions on here that are derived from the media's representation of the facts. Most of us are guilty of, and I am definitely at the top of this list, using media that agrees with our thinking to support our argument. So the question I always try to ask myself is "Is my opinion based on media information or supported by media information?"

And 99% of the time I have to admit that it is based on media information. From sources I don't normally trust. That is why I spend so much time focussing on the players behaviour and responses. To see if it matches with what we are hearing or being told.

There are some good sources out there though.

Oh...and BTW,,.....a lot of this carries over to the Trump thread. Lots of well informed people over there using the media as their "intelligence" gathering service.

Unfortunately all media nowadays seems to be more about putting across a point of view rather than reporting the facts. Tom Bradbury on News at Ten (who I used to think was ok) is a prime example of someone who expresses a totally unwanted view on what should be a factual item of news.

Having said that, thankfully the UK media (of all persuasions) have still got investigative journalists that report honestly and courageously. Long may that continue........a Country without a (largely) free press is not one worth living in.
