Do You Jeer Or Cheer Claudio Bravo?

It seems as though the Etihad faithful are really getting on Claudio Bravo’s back. I mean why do Blues sing the Joe Hart song when it’s fairly obvious we’ll never see him wearing a City shirt anytime soon – if ever!

Is it time to move on?

Jeering Claudio

Any mistake is immediately followed by jeers and although he’s not, in my opinion a world-class keeper he’s still good enough, certainly in Pep’s eyes, and mine, (not that my two-pennith worth means anything) to be the main-man in between the City sticks.

Some may say it’s only banter but imagine how he feels? Oh and before I’m accused of being an old fuddy-duddy…but I’m sure the ‘politically correct’ police must be on the verge of imploding!

Cheering Claudio

Behaviour breeds behaviour and so how about cheering Bravo (not in a sarcastic way) when he makes a cracking save, or does something creative IE distributes the ball which opens up the opposition. I’m sure his confidence will grow which in turn will benefit MCFC.

There have been reports suggesting Bravo and family are unsettled and finding life in Manchester difficult and that a move back to Spain could be on the cards as early as this summer. I ask you, do we really want him to fail?

Saddening that that question is even being asked.

It needed to be asked - we've all heard the chants and jeers aimed at Bravo. Very uncomfortable viewing i'm afraid.

I wasn't having a go T, I just find it sad that it needs to be asked.

Watching the Watford game and there was a moment around 10 minutes to go, Watford were rallying at that point and looked confident that they could get something from the game, we were in possession and they pushed us right back, forcing us to go to Bravo. At this point the two centre backs split and Fernando dropped central to give Bravo options, Watford put the press on, the two centre backs were marked tight, their markers within two yards of them, Fernando's marker wasn't as tight, he was around 4 yards away from him.

In that situation Joe Hart would either kick the ball long and inevitably lose possession whilst Watford's big men win the aerial challenge or the second ball or he would try the 40 yard pass to one of our full backs on the sideline which he oh so often put out for a throw. Either way the likelihood is that with Hart there possession is given back to the opposition which would lead to us repelling another attack against a side rallying for an equaliser.

What did Bravo do? Played a perfect weighted ball to Fernando who turned as he received it and as a result we launched an attack of our own as we beat the press. And that simple pass is the whole point of Bravo.

Cheer, he is not as bad as people make out and he is only doing what the boss tells him to. He deserves our backing, because that will be good for his confidence and he will repay us ten fold.

well said BD.

Well said JB.

I fear he has been on the receiving end of an unwarranted level of criticism given that our defence has been so woeful and porous at times this season. I would defy most keepers to not appear so vulnerable. He is not immune from criticism and there may have been a few shots where he could have done better, but I think that is more down the frequency with which he has been exposed rather than significant weaknesses in his goalkeeping ability.

All in all it is pretty much impossible to really judge whether he would have better or worse than anyone else as we cannot replay the same circumstances with a different keeper. As it is Joe Hart has not been without his critics and has himself let in some poor goals, been beaten at his near post, failed to come for crosses and singularly been unable to find a team mate with his long distribution. But we will never know as he chose to leave and we now have a new number one whom should be given our support.

I am sure Pep is on the case for next season. I expect two new keepers to come in. As for now we must support our team, Bravo is part of that and is trying his best.

No need for the jeering but I still have those moments when I stop breathing.

Wasn't Dibble the cop in the ' Top Cat ' cartoons?

I don't jeer , I don't cheer ...........

,,,,,,,,,,,,, but if the ball is directed to CB, I turn away .
